Three 12yo kids facing felony charges for putting pepper flakes in teacher's soda

Seems to me like a case of overreacting on all accounts. 
 
1. the little girl overreacted to being sent to the principle's office by putting the pepper flakes in the soda
2. the teacher overreacted to the flakes...come on, short of breath and could have died. Sure I could have died today walking into work and slipping on a banana peel, but the chances are SUPER slim. 
3. the police overreacted to the situation by arresting the girls. 
4. the media overreacted by even writing the story
 
If I was king? Make the 12 year old girls each eat a scotch bonnet MOA, watch them cry, and get on with life. 

 
Agreed stang on all accounts except #2
 
She unknowingly ingested something put there by someone else. Never cool.
 
I am not even talking about allergies here but that is a serious and legit concern. Some people have reactions for whatever reason. If I tricked Hogleg by putting Asparagus in a Fritata, he would throw up. Not an allergy but a serious aversion.
 
There was a mexican joint in Seattle years ago that many people were getting sick from. The owner put up hidden cameras in the kitchen and caught the cook shitting in the refried beans. Yeah, he shit in the beans.
 
Extreme example, but not unlike what the girl did to the teacher.
