All I can say is you're having great success with paper towel-baggie method-------

Just make sure you transfer out of the paper towel before the root hairs imbed themselves making it difficult to transfer the "sprout" to a peat pellet.

Good luck and keep us advised!

These were seeds I saved from last year’s reapers. I was going to sell the seeds on OfferUp but wanted to see if they grew or not. They all sprouted and I can’t throw them away. So I planted them. I’ll try to sell the plants.

The small ziplocs shown in your pic look like those from WHP. Justin (the owner) always have good quality seeds, send more than most sellers do per pack and usualy add cool freebies too. If your having hard times with all of them I'm pretty sure the problem is not about the seed quality...

Are those JIFFY-7 Peat Pots or another brand? What do you use for media?

The pots are from some big dollar type store. They were $1.80 for twenty. My media is scotts lawn soil, expert gardener gardensoil, and jolly gardener play sand. All mixed up.

Im thinking not enough heat. My cheapo Walmart heating pad might only last for one season. Plus there’s been no sun through the window this year. I got some heat bulbs coming. I bought seeds from same place as last year and they all grew. And you’re right , I ordered four and got eight different varieties.

I had some issues with those off-brand-cheepo peat pots - specifically root restriction:

The off brands seem "tougher/harder than the Jiffy 7's (Maybe less peat and more wood pulp?). I recommend cutting them off before transplanting.

3 out of 8 seed varieties popped up.For a total of 6 plants big whoop. 30 of my own reaper seeds grew. Guess I’m growing reapers again.

Hopefully you get it figured out. In think temp is a big suspect, remember I am talking soil temp not ambient temp. Also is temp consistent or is it only warm enough while the drier is on? I agree to not over water, but I like to water the media really good at first just to make sure everything is moist. I have heat mats with a temp probe that seem to work really well, but still don't keep up really well on cold days. Hopefully you can get a handle on it.

After 8 + weeks , I give up. I ordered more seeds from same place. Do they sell steroids for plants so they catch up to my other ones?
