Tomato plants dying, now moving to peppers?

All,

Some of my larger tomato plants are starting to die off. However, it's the new growth that is dying and shriveling up. Usually you see the bottom growth dying, and moving up the plant.

This is starting to occur on a few pepper plants also.

Nutrient deficiency? Calcium or Boron? Any clues?

Does the color change first? Does it go limp first? Do you see any abnormalities like bacterial lesions or bug bites, eggs or the bugs themselves?

Is it really hot and have you been watering and fertilizing enough? Pictures might help.

I am trying to get some pics. We went 20 days without rain here in Alabama, then rain everyday. But I have been managing the water with soaker hoses.

Definitely not a water issue. No bugs that I can see. Leaves did not go limp, just small growth, a little yellowish, then grayish brown and dead.

It looks like nutrient deficiency to me, but wondering if anybody else has seen new growth die off like this. It's new to me.
