Tomato root ball

I had one Roma that my daughter used for a science fair project. We started this from seed but eventually ended up in a 5 gallon bucket because it got huge. I was going to leave in the bucket but decided to plant it...here was the root ball when I pulled it out of bucket...

Thats how I plant most of my toms since they grow so fast. Once they outgrow a 5 gallon container, its time for a big hole in the garden or a half barrel.
