PJ...good video with some good ideas...you will see there is an enormous amount of differnt ideas in this forum...
as far as the giant Bhut Jolokia pods go, I am assuming you have just selected the largest pods from your original plants and grown the seed several years...how many years have you been growing the Bhuts?...I have done the same and this year have several plants that produced very nice and large pods which I will keep for next years seed...

You made me wanna cry when throwing those sprinkles on the ground...I've been scrounging for bhut powder for months. I wanted to jump through the screen, do the flying horizontal leap, and catch it right before it hit the ground, just like in the movies
. But I'm all good now, just got notice yesterday of a big supply of bhuts. THANK GOODNESS!

ThePepperGrowingMan grew some of Pepper Joe's Giant Ghost Peppers last summer.
This is what he had to say about them.
"I put them at about 80% of my regular jolokias. The giants taste the same and the plants grow a lot faster, put off bigger pods and a lot more of them compared to my regular jolokias."

I ordered some giant ghost pepper seeds from Pepper Joe and am looking forward to seeing how the plants perform next year.
Even at 80% of the heat of a regular Bhut Jolokia, the bigger pods and greater proliferation of them should make for a good harvest.

Why I did not see any sauce in the video?
I ended up with hundreds of them last year (some in my avatar picture) and would now say depending on what part of the season they grew in they were 80% - 100% as my regular jolokias. I mean at a certain point it's hard to tell...f'ing hot is f'ing hot
Great producers though. Big part of my garden plan next year. Jut had one of my saved seeds sprout in my DWC bucket in the basement. Updates to grow log coming in the next few days.

It's the original strain that came out of India.

I've been growing it for about 9 years...worked on getting seeds after the Sept. 2000 article in the International Herald Tribune...I was skeptical about it at first because it was incorrectly referred as a Cayenne Pepper...and no way is there a Cayenne that hot. And there were conflicting stories coming out of India.
Of course after the dust settled with the initial publicity ran it was obviously a Chinense.
It reminds me of the current Buzz about the Naga Viper...I'm not sure that enough testing has been done on several peppers from several different plants. Also, it takes 3 years of consistent results from a cross bred pepper to officially become a new strain.
Time will tell as the story continues to unfold...
