Too much manure?

Someone I know has property with a horse paddock (is that the right word?) on it.  It has not been used in a couple years, faces south, has a good fence around it.  Thing is, he never scraped it for all the years he kept horses there. I wonder, is it possible to have too much manure in your soil for peppers?

Not seriously considering it right now, but he i offering rent to own sort of thing so it is attractive.

I would worry more about the horse piss (ammonia) concentration in it if it was never cleaned out.  I used to clean out horse stalls as a kid and the ammonia headaches were fierce.  Dried cow patties would probably have much less piss on them.

Ammonia gets consumed by microbes while it's aging.

The biggest problem with horse manure, is that if it's not fully aged, it can rob nitrogen, while breaking down the wood chips. But once it's had time to break down, it's pure gold.
