Once this island was covered by areas where you could find this endemic wild chili. Today, there are only a few hundred plants left in the wild, as estimated by the Jamaica Ministry of Agriculture, and to find those, one has to get deep into the rainforest between the peaks of the Blue Mountains.
The Jamaican Bird Pepper comes as yellow and red variety. The length of the fruit is around 2.5 cm (1 inch). They are pungent. After weeks of search, I could not find any yellow plant, and only a few red plants. Since that time, I grow them by myself and try to repopulate them at different places.
Here and today, I am offering seeds of the red variety to you! Use them to grow your own endemic Jamaican Bird Pepper, or use them as source for interesting cross-pollination projects. Or use x-rays to create mutations, if you're on the experimental side.
If you wish a trade, that is fine with me. Here is what I am looking for:
- seeds of Cheiro Roxa chili
- seeds of Jumbo Jalapeno chili
- seeds of Stevia rebaudiana
- seeds of Tricyrtis hirta
- seeds of apricots
- seeds of peaches
- seeds of sweet cherries
- seeds of delicious, soft pear varieties
- seeds of persimmon / khaki
- seeds of Navel orange
- seeds of blue Damsel plum
- seeds of capers
- package of rennet tablets (needed for cheese-making)
- your hot girl-friend
If you prefer a purchase instead of a trade exchange, each bag of seeds costs 5 US$.
The shipping to anywhere worldwide, with one seed bag or several, costs 2.50 US$
If you wish instead a registered shipping, with tracking number, it costs 3.75 US$.
Each seed bag contains 5 seeds..
