OK, I've been around the interwebs for long enough to know that this will probably annoy someone, but i assure you: I tried my best to search this topic.  I found plenty of threads where both of these basic types were mentioned.  I found threads alluding to articles postulating that, genetically speaking, these were all the same pepper.  (I read the threads and the article--not entirely sure I agree, and pretty sure that I don't care much, anyway  :D .)  I found plenty of pod reviews with guys going on and on about the flavor of whichever chile he'd just devoured--but no head-to-head compare/contrast sessions.
 
But, what I'm looking for is just a straight-up comparison of the two basic groups of Trinidad supers.  In terms of flavor, how do they differ?  How are they similar?
 
Of course, I realize that there are several varieties of Scorpions, and a vast array of different 7Pot strains.  I also understand how, generally speaking, a red chile of a given variety will taste different than a yellow example of the same variety, and how a brown version of the same will be different from both the yellow and the red. I get all that.  I just want some highly generalized opinions and observations about the flavor profiles of 7Pots in general vs T.Scorpions in general.  At this point, I want to grow what looks cool, and i think the TS looks cooler, not just b/c of the tail (it seems as though many 7Ps feature tails, and many TS do not) but also b/c I prefer the look of the shorter, smaller, "stumpier" pod.  But, if it turns out that 7Pots taste better, well dang... I think the flavor trumps the aesthetics, any day.
 
So, I'm looking forward to hearing the THP ppl's experiences and opinions on 7Pots vs T.Scorpions.  Thanks!

I'm not the one to ask for a  description... Peppers smell like peppers to me and can only tell a difference between the different kinds like, oh this one smells like a scorpion, or typical 7pot, habaneros smell like habaneros and baccatums have their own unique smells... there may be subtle variations and combinations. 
 
It's like handing someone a vanilla bean pod and asking them to describe what it smells like.. ummm smells like vanilla (loosely paraphrasing nigel on that one)
 
Fair enough...i'm psyched to try them both, but i'm worried about space...but it should be easy enough to make room for both.  I got white 7Pot seeds on the way; I think I wanna try some yellow ones.... not sure what direction to go, in terms of scorpions.
 
White is tasty but depending the source they have been argued to not be 7pots at all. I think your best bet is to order a small flat rate box this summer from someone selling and taste test the peppers and see which ones you like and save the seeds from them. Most sell boxes for $15-25 depending on supply and demand. 
 
haven't seem very many ads yet but it should be picking up soon as everyone gets overwhelmed with all the pods they run out of things to do with. 
 
A member here on THP offered to send me some seeds, gratis, the very first day I posted here.   :D   Folks on here are very forthcoming, it seems, with seeds, knowledge, advice, etc.  I'll definitely keep an eye out for members selling samplers of fresh pods; I got much to learn, and the offerings at the local markets an't gonna cut it.
 
Thanks for the advice; I'm definitely going to do that....but I'm still hoping other ppl will chime in with opinions on these varieties.
 
All I can say is that the red Scorpion has an acidic, fruity chinense flavour with what is almost an orangy quality to it, while the red Primo is like a less sour and less mellow Reaper taste. Still a tad sour, still it's own peppery flavour, quite a fiery one if that makes any sense. Both have serious heat, though I'd say the Moruga nScorpio tops the Primo, which in turn greatly surpasses the Butch T strain.
 
To me, Scorpions are more likely to have some degree of floral taste than most 7 Pots. It can be fairly subtle, like in most of the CARDI Yellow Scorpions I have tried, or it can be very strong, like in the few Butch T Scorpions I have tried, but it just seems to me like the floral notes are more often found in Scorpions to one degree or another.

I think the white and yellow 7 Pots are both really tasty. Good choices! Personally, I like the yellow Brainstrain even better than the "regular" yellow 7 Pot, but that is just my opinion of course. For Scorpions, if you like a fruity tasting pepper, I suggest the CARDI Yellow Scorpion as a good one to start with.

That's good to know.... the pods definitely look badazz, too.  I think some red Morugas will make the list.

My scorpions were a huge let down. Smoking hot, without a doubt, but the taste was aweful. Floral/perfumey. Like I was chewing on a flower someone sprayed with perfume and set on fire

See, I bet some folks would actually like something like that....  I'm getting the sense that, in extremely vague/general terms, the TS is on the floral side and the 7P is on the fruity side... but i'm pretty sure I'll grow both, an make my mind up myself.
 
At the very least, I'll buy a box and try'm both.  I tend to prefer empiricism to research, although I like to get into a bit of both....
 
*Edit* as an aside, has anyone ever tried a TS and found it to be bitter?

That sounds freaking delicious.  First season, I'm growing red TMS, and yellow 7P, plus the white 7P...  If that's successful, I wanna try a yellow TS, maybe F around with some kinda Brainstrain the following year.

That's the best way. We can give our experiences, but each person likes different stuff. Grow them all, and more. I started growing supers, their fun, but turns out I prefer habs
