Trippaul Threat (PdN x BMJ) Community Grow

This is a dedicated grow log for Tristen's awesome cross, which I
have been growing out since 2014.  I'll start with a bit of history and
some photos documenting what's happened so far.

In January of 2014, Tristen (Trippa) sent me a little care package of seeds.
In the package were two generations of a cross he had made, which he just
called 'Mystery Cross, F1' and 'Mystery Cross, F2'.

Here's Trippa's Mystery Cross seedlings in February of 2014:

Both generations showing the purple foliage characteristic since the beginning.

Up close look at Trippa's Mystery Crosses, F1 and F2.  Both culled to a single
plant after the photo taken, so I only had one plant of each generation:

I''ve got 2 of the F6 purple, one F6 white, and one F4 white.  I planted 6 seeds of each. They came up a couple of days ago; late start this year.
That is just great! It is awesome to see so
many folks getting some plants going.

That is awesome, Tristan! One of the best I
have heard so far! I am looking forward to
seeing all that purple power

Me too, Tristan!

How are your F7 seeds doing,
or have you started yet?
Dude. Totally forgot to plant my f7 seeds, all I planted were the ones you supplied me in the mail, those were f6 correct? I did one white and one violet (4 seeds each and culled). Should I plant some of mine?

First time I have tried this, Andy. I was reading
up on pruning and this was one of the tips. It is
such a pain trying to pick off all the flowers, I
thought this might be a good compromise.
Theory being, it encourages some of the
energy that goes to flowering and setting
pods into some early growth.
That is the fun part of a community grow, Fish!
You get to see lots of different takes on the same
variety or species. Same for the GrowDowns.
Yeah tried same technique last year on like half or more plants-Hybridmode I think his username is put me onto the idea, made sense and worked in practice, although not necessary for tremendous yields; but rather more important for plants that have a hard time standing up on they're feet during wind and rain events under weight of fully podded and loaded plants, and helps provide more consistent airflow thru the plant(s) also aiding in disease prevention from not staying soaked all the time or congested even when dry.. Just my 0.02¢ but IMO a great technique to have in the arsenal especially once you learn the plants growth habits. Miss this stuff!

That's what happens when you start them
in November, Andy!
The exact reason I didn't start early from last year's experience starting plants in January and dealing with plant jungle all winter long vs this year where I let too much time pass for no reason in particular just busy and depressed I guess with the weather. Sure woulda been lot more fun finding a happy medium and start Feb! Always room for improvement - once they get their sea legs they rock and roll anyway with good Temps and sun/light!

If those seeds are the ones I sent last Fall,
they are seeds from the F6 plants, and will
produce the F7 generation. It might be interesting
to try some of yours too, just for fun! In any case,
good luck with the ones you have germinated!

Yeah, Tristan, it is sometimes difficult to find
the happy medium !

I feel your pain about the weather. Thank goodness
we have had a few nice days here and there to sort
of want to hang in there a little longer

One nice thing about working around the T5HO lamps
in the garage is the bright light gives me a little sun fix!

The F7s in the garage are setting pods like crazy. Every
pod should be sort of isolated since there have been no
other flowering plants around, and I have been pollinating
with a brush all along. I will leave them under the lights until
plant-out.

Keep those cards and letters coming in, folks!

Don't know if I've had any sprouts quite as hairy as the pdn x bmj
Wow, Brandon, those sprouts are looking good!

The bushy feet on the two center ones are amazing,
but they all look good. The two bushy
ones would make a great fake mustache!

Good luck getting those into some media and out
for plant-out. Am looking forward to watching
those grow...

I noticed today one of my surviving OWs is the F6 from last year. It needs some TLC, but there's a chance it will hang on.

Cool, John. Would be nice to see a pic when it gets healthy!

Pods are a bit different on this plant..
Those are both typical, Scott. And looking good!
The pod in the first pic looks downright mean!

Weeeee, Doggies! Look at those beauties, Paul! Your plants are looking glorious, as usual. I can't wait to see what that Violet does for you this year. Great stuff!!!

Welp I can't seem to get lucky with these seeds. I've tried two times and both times I had terrible germ rates. The few that did germ were helmet heads. I'm gonna try one more time I think.
