Trying a hab, verses sauces and powders?

Hi all,

I want to try a habenero but I'm still nervus, I know what that bad boy and other hot peppers do to your colen and mouth.

What's funny thogth I can use all sorts of haberno spices and sauces and eat habenero induced food, So my question is "What gives am I a wimp?"

Rainbowberry has been known to eat 50 habs a week and 4 to 5 on a sandwich at once. I usually do about half that.

CAUTION: If you have heart problems and trouble breathing due to heart related issues do NOT attempt to eat a habanero.

Cheers, TB.

IMO, try just a small sliver first to see how ya like it.

Cut lentghwise so ya get the actual range of heat..lotta folks jus cut off the tip, which may not be hot at all. Remmeber, the capsaicin is mainly in the whitish membranes around the seeds...and watch for yellowish glistening pools of stuff...dey be evil. ;)

And possibly most important, eat something bland like an hour beforehand rice/bread/etc. You don't want an empty tummy, nor a full one.

And...RELAX....Remember to breathe too. Think Chile-Zen.

The more you are fearful and nervous the worse it'll be. That's the mental part. :)

It's kinda like dropping acid...gotta be prepared and then just let it flow.

Derek, I'll be sending you a bottle of my hab sauce this week. Try just a little bit on a spoon. Go from there. If you can handle a teaspoon then you might be ready.

Another approach is to start eating jalapenos known to be hot. Then serranos. From there graduate to Thai chiles. Work up to it.
Be patient. You've just learned to fly. Don't expect to jump into the cockpit of an F-22 just yet.

BTW...we were ALL chile wimps once.

Cheers, TB.

Haha, Nice one TB,

Your right, I'll give a de gutted one a try first.

Has anyone noticed that food tastes 1000 times better with hab spice on it? Or any kind of pepper spice?

if you want to ease into it, make a popper out of one first. stuffed with cream cheese, wrap in bacon..grill or bake until soft.

pop in mouth, chew, swallow, breathe, sit back, relax, breathe because even a cooked one will burn a little

then go from there..

Get out of my mind Bam, That's what I was going to do.

dude, just try a little at a time... a sliver, a slice, a chunk, a half, and then if you have the balls a whole! just go at your own pace, if you don't enjoy it then there is no point

I do enjoy eat hot peppers, I love the heat they produce and I will start small then work my way up to big....

By the way My sloppy joe mix has 2 habs sliced and diced and I love that1

Just remember, the pain is good! This is a different kind of pain... it's a rush. If you seriously have heart issues, there are some things to stay away from, like extract sauces.
