Type of yoghurt to get whey?

This is probably the dumbest quest on the forum but how do I manage to get whey from the yoghurt?

So far I've tried two different types of yoghurt and just got yoghurt int he bowl beneath it.
Poured the yoghurt into a sieve and left over a bowl to drip though.
The first one was a thick yoghurt so didn't do any dripping just the initial dollop. Thankfully I was hungry later so it wasn't wasted. The second was a natural normal yoghurt which pretty much poured through...

So I've just stuck with the salt so far but I'd be really keen to try the whey.

Any tips would be well recieved.

Get some Dannon plain yogurt make sure it says it has an active culture. Place a coffee filter in the sieve and dump the yogurt on to the filter. In a couple of hours you'll have a bowl of whey.

I seen other people making Labneh ( a type of middle eastern cheese) from yoghurt. All yoghurt is poured into a muslim bag, hanged up & all the juices that come off this is Whey. The solid (or fairly) part is cheese. Same principle posted by #RM but this way the Whey is clear liquid.

Awesome thanks guys!
Will try this tonight with another batch of chillies

I picked up another useful tip to culture lactobacilus using grain fromt he brewery (I brew beer). If you steep some grain in warm water and put in the airing cupboard (usually holds the hot water tank so nice and warm) leave it for 3 days and you'll have a thick krausen on the top - lactobacilus. Mate of mine uses it for making salami and rubbing on the outside of the meat.
