music Underrated Guitarists

eddie hazel, I think he would be more well known if he didn't just play funk music in the 70s.

Perhaps not "underrated" but I believe certainly underappreciated. Everyone knows his name but I'll bet very few have listened to him play - Les Paul.

john 5 is a beast, did you know he has played with meatloaf, and kd lang? can u imagine those shows
I knew he played with KD Lang but didn't know about Meatloaf. I've seen him with Rob Zombie and got to meet him. Real cool down to earth guy. I would like to see him play his solo stuff sometime!

probably not everyones cup of tea but i really think this Tosin Abasi has an immense talent....... 8 strings and all......

There are so many great musicians who never get very much recognition for their skill. For being pretty popular i think Brian Setzer doesn't get much recognition for his guitar work. I like seeing him pullout every trick he knows on his solo's and seeing if he can find his way back, he plays it very close to edge. Also if you ever see his hands while he's singing you'll notice all the passing chords and licks he throws in to support and harmonize the melody.
