When you smelled a zombie? I would love to know more!
To OP's question, a single bad fruit in a plastic bag can give the impression that the whole bunch is bad. It has happened to me many times with fruits and vegetables in plastic bags that I bought from the supermarket.
In that case, separate the bad one(s) and either cut off and throw away the bad parts from the bad fruits or throw the whole bad fruits away. In either case, eating any fruit that tastes bad or abnormal should be avoided.
Fruits and vegetables do not taste pleasant to everyone so if this is the first time that you bought habaneros or this habanero variety it might just be their normal smell and it might just not be of your liking.
