Hey folks trying to figure this one out. All my plants this year were from purchased seed. This particular plant came in with either the jalepeno seed or the ancho seed. (It's right on the border between the two groups in the garden.)
To me, it looks a lot like an upright purple/black ancho. They are black when looking at them, the camera shows the purple much better. Fruit size is 4-6". Walls are relatively thin, flesh is green. Similar to the anchos, the flesh is not very spicy while the membranes are spicy.
So is this a random cross / sport or is it an established variety and I just got a seed? I've never seen such big fruits grow pointing upward before. I do have more pics if needed but figured this one showed the situation pretty well!
