Valo grow (indoor & outdoor)

Hi everyone! :)

I recently started an indoor grow to coincide with my outdoor grow. I am pretty new to growing plants at all, so forgive any silly questions I have.. :)

Photo was taken before can fans and ducting was fitted. I also have brought the light down to about 45cm from the top of the plants. I have 2 habaneros in the tent under a 400w hps light on 24/0. Outside, I have 2 habaneros and 1 bhut jolokia.

Here is one of my indoor Habs. These 2 indoor plants have been topped. Will these nodes flower or actually branch out?

Here is my other indoor Hab.

My Bhut Jolokia. Forgive the silly question, but do Bhuts always give a crazy amount of leaves? Should I trim some of the bottom bits? *waits for constructive criticism*

Thanks for looking...

those nodes should start branching, you can already see the baby branch on top of the petiole there.

there are 2 schools of thought on trimming: do it, let the plant do its thing.
neither is wrong, i like trimming some of the big leaves at nodes direct from main stem to see if i can get more branches.

Hello. I'm from Perth too :)
Why are you growing inside when the weather outside is warm and friendly? An experiment?
Sorry I can't give you any advice, I am a chilli novice as well. I've got some plants that I started and bought at the beginning of 2014 that survived outdoors all winter (not all, some died), and some seedlings I germinated inside on top of the fish tank for warmth but now they are on their own outside.

Good to see a local around :D What types of chillies are you growing? Hanging for the Chilli Festival next year!

I am growing indoors mainly so next winter I can keep producing!

That was the main reason - I would like to get as many pods as possible.

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone can tell me what is making the leaves split and go brown? Still growing strong, all new growth coming thru fine...

Thanks!

Fair enough, my chillies just clung desperately to life over winter.

I went to the Chilli Festival at Fremantle last year, I went on Sunday afternoon and there were a zillion people there, it was most unpleasantly crowded. Some of the other Perth people on here said they went on Saturday morning as soon as it opened and it was a lot less packed then.

Things I am growing that I bought as plants-

Anaheim
Yellow Hab
Manzano orange
Cayenne
7 pot Jonah
Butch T
Tepin
Sunstrike
Cayenne Lilac
De Arbol
Hungarian yellow
Bhut Jolokia

Some I am growing from seeds-
Serrano
Joe Parker
a penis shaped one
Red salsa
Fatalli
Black aussie
Caysan
Cherry
Jalepano
Red thai
Passila bajio
Jamaican yellow
Orange Magnum Habanero

Is your plant that has the split leaf outside? If so some critter may be chewing on it.

Very nice list of plants! :) Perth needs more cook-offs!

Saturday would be better given majority of people have Sunday off work, but that's just my 2c.

The plant is an inside one, I just had it outside while I had to move the tent and some other stuff around.

One of my habanero plants, yesterday | same time today. Took a few days to get over the shock of being cut in half no doubt haha cannot wait for these plants to get bigger :D

Picked up a Carolina Reaper yesterday, will put it in my grow tent under 18/6. I feel a lot less stressed since getting into gardening and being out the backyard a bit more :)

Talking about feeling less stressed sometimes if I am feeling annoyed I think 'I will  just go and talk to my real friends' and then  I go and hang out with the chilli plants :)

I've managed to go to Bunnings the last three times and not buy any more plants - just potting mix and stuff, because I already have way too many. I did buy one from Wildfire last year, it's struggling because I planted in a stupid spot.

How are the plants that you cut the tops off going?

I got 2 from Wildfire, a Carolina Reaper and a Moruga Scorpion, topped both and they're doing well.

This is one of the Habs I topped, about 3 weeks apart I think. I've been told to steer clear of Bunnings pepper plants (except wildwire) because they're supposedly not even close to the amount of heat they should be (ie Bhut Jolokia being as hot as a Habanero etc) not sure how true this is though...

Would be interested to buy some seeds from you when your plants ripen, Jonquill ?

This is a "Trinidad Moruga Scorpion" I was given along with another one. A lot of the pods so far are very small

This is my Wildfire Chilli Carolina Reaper. Pruned the middle bit a little to let some light in... Can't wait for this to produce pods.

This is my main Habanero, just starting to make pods. My Bhut Jolokia has started to pod also :)

Bit off topic... Plumeria cuttings :) Came home today to find the leaf on the left cutting opened.

San Pedro cactus (Scopulicola x Pachanoi) which I am thinking about cutting in half.
