SumBits...I showed my wife all of the entries...she and I agree...yours is the best looking. Mine was honestly one of the best meals I've ever made...and I was in a whole new world; I never fry anything other than a sautee. But based on what looks good...we agree...it's YOURS!

PS - she doesn't really like bone-in chicken...especially BBQ bone-in...and she still picked yours. Me...I'll eat anything...especially your energy-hen. How far from TX are ya?

They were all awesome. And Barbie will forever be burned into my memory with the second most disturbing abuse of Mattel intellectual property rights I've ever seen. The first one was at a Spike & Mike's Twisted Animation Festival and was titled 'Rough Sex'.

But Mike's made me actually want to go order up. Nice work, buddy!

LB, Thanks for the props! Every TD brings a whole new world to me, too. Would I do this for a "normal" meal.?. Hell no.!. Throwdowns is where trend-setting begins.

Chard is something I'll throw into the mix. Melba toast as panko breading = WERD

Tell the wife she made an excellent choice..... this was "fall off the bone" teriyaki BBQ'd chicken awesomness'es!

You know how WE do it, nothing but the best.

I'm in Miami, that's an easy [tough] three days from you by car [JEEP] ----> OllllIO

... And Barbie will forever be burned into my memory...

SoFlo did its job.

Buddy definitely got my vote, with FryDad close behind. Both fit my definition of one harmonious entree, plus looked like dishes I really wanted to try, but Buddy's was calling my name just a bit louder....

All I can say is WOW! What a great collection of entries for this throwdone. In the end though had to give my vote to mikeinsc, the combination of the greens and grits, that is southern cookin at it's finest and homemade stock to boot. Though I have to give props to wheebz for the homemade Barleywine, as I'm just getting into brewing myself don't think I missed that glass of goodness sitting there and I'm sure it gave a nice flavor to those veggies.

Awsome job everyone! There must be enough recipies here now that a "The Hot Pepper, Throwdown Cook Book" cant be far off from the printing press. Of course to be followed by "The Hot Pepper, Drunkin Chef Cook Book"

I thought I was going to have a difficult time thawing these things out, well thank you warm water and my sink. The oven at 120 degrees wasnt working fast enough.

Wheebz - since we love and cherish you, and want you on here for many TD's to come, PLEASE don't use this approach again. The cold water bath in your sink approach really does work quickly and is food safe, while the warm water approach is not food safe, and for whatever weird reason I don't care enough to look up, slower. Okay, I'll stop the mom thing now.... ;o)

trust me I didnt want to do what I did, but being that I waited so long to try to do this i had no other option

chicken was tasty though

Oy - what I am saying is that you DID have another option - the cold water bath does work, and does work quickly.

the water I used was only around 80 degrees, it wasnt hot enough to cook the bird by any means
We're not talking about cooking the bird, but creating a warm environment for food-borne contaminants (such as bacteria) to grow in. Bacteria loves growing at 80 degrees, but doesn't care for cold, which is why the cold water bath is safer. Of course, it's your body we're talking about - if you're happy to risk getting a food-borne illness, go for it!

The cooking process kills any bacteria that might propagate during thaw process. Unless you plan on eating your bird raw Wheebz, you did nothing wrong. I thaw everything under cold tap water. In Miami cold tap water is 80F.

Oy - not always. But again, your body..... have fun with that!

Looks like he survived so on with the voting!

Sorry I've been absent lately.......

We got Gran Turismo 5 for Christmas and it's quite fun!

After close examination of all the entries, I had to slide my vote to Sum......although FD4's plate-ho damn near swayed me!!!!

GO SUM!!!
