I did manage to have less variety planted, but ended up with almost just as many plants as last year.

BTW, how's the Garlic bed doing ?
My elephant garlic is just starting to yellow at the tips of the leaves and the other True garlics are a couple weeks behind them.
I've been picking the scapes in waves, so we can use some fresh in meals, as well as dehydrating and using like garlic chives in; dips, soups, and pasta sauces, throughout the winter.

I was actually gonna send you a picture of the garlic, what percentage of brown/yellow foliage am I looking for? I think they are pretty much ready

Hey Andy .... looks like if it doesn't rain in a few days, we're gonna have to water. How unbelievable is that? :rofl:

We're picking tomatoes and are in full up blackberry production mode down here in Paola. Started pulling some big onions, carrots and potatoes.

The peppers look great now ..... starting to pick some annuums. I ended up with 120 plants in the beds. The shit WX set everything back this year. My peppers sat for 1.5 months doing nothing before finally taking off. It's going to be a later than normal harvest for my chinenses.

My plants arent that big, but they are loading up with peppers for sure. I never got cages on my tomatoes, might try to hook something up today so I dont get the blight like last year.

It was supposed to rain this morning, I went back to bed, not sure if it rained or not lol

when about 50+% of the tops are yellow/brown they should be ready to dig up.
yours might be ready, i've got a couple more weeks up here.

My daughter house-sat whilst we were vacationing; I'm still scratching my head, as to why a full harvest went into the mulch bin? Seed stock too!

I harvest when the first tops fall over, unless it's crazy wet. Then I pull early.

What's this I went back to bed stuff? I want some of that

Yeah mine are a lot more yellow than that. I will go dig a couple up this morning and see what they look like. I wasted a hand full of scapes, cause I set them down after I picked them and let them dry up outside. I did get to use a few of them.
I will probably try to save the majority of this garlic to plant again for next year, I eventually want a good sized bed of it growing each year.

And Devv, I have a hard time sleeping in, so sometimes if I get up at 4 and take a shower, then I end up going back to sleep lol. That sucks your garlic got mulched.

So this has been drying since we talked about it. How long does it need to dry before I desperate it into cloves and plant it?
Some of them definitely went too long, bout to turn those into sauce today.

I've posted in the growdown and pdnxbmj threads about my possible calcium lockout/ maybe herbicide problems. All of my new growth on all of my potted plants and raised beds, as well as some of my in ground plants, are showing severely deformed growth.

I sprayed them with a calcium bloom booster, and put some granular feed in the pots, but then some of the older leaves started looking rough. And the leaves look wet during the heat of the day. I tested the ph of the soil in one pot, and it was only about 7, I wouldnt think that would cause this, but I know my tap water is about 9, but never had a problem before. I really shit the bed this year.

But I did get some pods to save seeds at least before they crapped out. And some plants look like they might be setting more pods right in the middle of the weird growth.

If anyone needs some seed off of these let me know.

Th PBSX is peach bonnet scorpion cross I originally got from Garth I think. I had a whit pheno last year, should have saved seeds, and I wasted the rest of the original seed this year.

One of my sherwoods carbonero cream looks like it got crossed, maybe with JPGS, Idk.

These are all open pollinated.

If anyone knows a solution for the weird growth let me know. I will get some more pics.

if you can brush the dirt off with a soft bristle brush without tearing the papery skins of the garlic heads then they should be dry enough if the skins start to tear then set those aside to break apart and wash to use right away, vac-freeze, or slice and dehydrate.

i want to dig up my garlic like last week, but its been too wet out their, looks like a nice week of weather forecast this week though :party:

I have a volunteer cuckumber that looks alright, lol. My tomatoes... I wrnt to price some t-posts to build them a little fence, and quickly abandoned that plan due to price. So they are pretty rough. If it would rain that would probably help. And I need to get my weed eater fixed. I'm doing rough over here this year lol. I think I'm gonna try to figure out how many plants I can actually take care of next year, and try to grow other stuff besides tomatoes and peppers.

Not long ago I had bacon wrapped poppers on a vertical smoker (with a flame at the bottom) caught the whole smoker on fire from grease dripping. I barely saved tube ribs. Peppers went straight into the trash. Lesson learned... I think
