WalkGood 2013, 2014 and Beyond

This is my first Glog so excuse what ever mess I may create, lol. Took way to many pictures today (31), so Ill post the first 9 and add more in subsiquent posts but didn't think it a good idea to start out doube or triple posting just for additional pics. I will also be updating the thread over time to show growth, pods and such ... but the first few pics of are of the young ones. While Ive been growing my favorite peppers for around 17 years (guess, lol), I always limited myself to 3 varieties or less. Jamaican peppers/Hab, Jalapeño and Cayenne. When things got too tuff Id milk them till they died off and stop growing for a while and start fresh. Most years I only grew the Jamaicans which are my favorite for cooking, home made sauce and the occasional powder to rub meats with or put into certain recipes.

Current inventory:
 • 5 Jalapeño
 • 1 Cayenne
 • 1 Serrano
 • 7 Datil
 • 15 Jamaican Habs (3 large around 3 years old and 12 less than year old)
 • 12 more to be determined
The young ones below are not that old with the oldest being the JA Habs which are around 3 years old now. I happen to find THP site while looking for advice/knowledge to cure one of my Jalapeños, thanks for all the good info guys/girls! In 2012 I added Datil, Thai hot, Cayenne, Jalapeño and Serrano to the mix, totaling around 41 plants now. Hats off \o_ to those of you who grow many more, dont know how you find the time and patients when things go off. That said, Ive done my fair share of battling aphids, nematodes, snails and white fly to no end over the last 3 years. Fortunately I believe to have things under control for now so Ive decided to add 12 new peppers to the mix from the listed seeds shown below.

Ill select 12 to start near end of December or first week in January from the seeds below and give credit once I get some new ones going :)

Need to start clearing our yard to grow more & more & more peppers ;) (*WG rollseyes*)

Top left to right: two Thai Hot and one Cayenne. Bottom row all Datil. BTW I don't grow everything in clay pots, just happen to get a good deal on a bunch in yard sale for a few bucks.

Huge live Oak in background, there's 5 of them in front yard so the shades hard to avoid in first few hours of sun rise.

8 Jamaican Habs in ground and cherry tomatoe in the pot, I need to find a good place to plant the tomatoe soon.

Top left Serrano and more Datil, I'm probably going to gift a few Datils for xmass and some of the other peppers

Edit: final list copied to first post from post #40. These seeds were soaked in water on 12/31/12 and planted 1/1/13 \o/

Edit: This list is constantly being updated as new hooks pop. Even though I lost #5 :/ I will not give up as there are 2 other seeds in dat egg mon ....

Now you're going to have me drying fruit next!!!  Sounds like a good reason to have a dozen MoA plants on hand next year....plenty of experimenting!!!
I’ve only done my MoA powder with mango which works well togethre and rocks! I use mango because the taste and color are a perfect match for her. Although I think there are a few other fruits that would go well with lady MoA too, will be making one later today ...

Your powder and pods look amazing. I think I could smell the strawberries!!!

You do anything with wild raspberries?  They are so good fresh I'd hate to use them on other things!!

Enjoy your night.
Thank you for the powder & pod kudos, back at yam on! I love fresh raspberries but haven’t tried them. Some that I have are apple, peach, pear and banana … only one I’ve had issue with is apple but I’m working on a fix

Hope you had a great night and Hab a great day!

Beautiful pods and pics Ramon!

Love the MoA pancakes!

Great idea!
Thanks Scott, I think dis work well with any pods and I'm thinking of making the same but thinner mix like crepes to stuff with shrimp and use my Tres Alarmas Caribbean MoA Sauce. BTW I find it strange that no one asked me why I used "tres" in the name and not another number. Anyone who guess's right will have a shipment of seeds sent to them at my expense, good luck ^_^

I'm good on seeds, just trying to guess ;)

Other than you changed the recipe and added 3oz mustard or wound up with 3 Avocado's after the trade....other than that IDK.

Not much of a detective...

I'll post the answer later today, it's not in the recipe but another good guess ...

I just thought you'd called it Tres Alarmas sauce, where 'tres' meant 'very'...or as it translated into Australian: Alarmingly Bloody Hot Caribbean MoA Sauce  ;)

I'm trying to wrap my head around that strawberry salt Ramon...it looks and sounds totally delicious...but for the life of me I can't figure out what you'd eat it with, sweet or savoury?? Educate me!!

Guess it’s late enough and either no one knew or no one cared about the free seeds. I used “Tres” which is Spanish for three because I have three big MoA plants. Edit: I would have accepted that three could be considered middle of the road heat level VS super hots ...

Neither the salt nor the powdered strawberry flavors are overwhelming so it works well together. So far I’ve only tried it on:
 • Chicken & Steak fajita's
 • Crackers with cream cheese
 • Sautéed Kosher dogs wrapped in tortilla shells with melted cheese
 • Pancakes
Sorry I didn't take pictures of the food but I enjoyed the taste, that said it might not be for everyone. I also have some other fruits that I dehydrated and I just need to grind them up. So there will be some others that follow ...

Yum, I can totally see that powder working a treat with some cream cheese on a cracker! Looking forward to seeing what else you come up with Ramon. I can't wait until I've got enough pods to start experimenting with things myself.

If you run across one you like, either PM me or post here and I'll link it. Thanks for stopping in and positive vibes mon! Hab a great day!

I'll post up mas after work time permitting, hope everyone has an awesome Monday -_-

Querido, tres for 3 MoA plants? Lol! "Cinco Alarmas" will be for 5 Bhut Orange Copenhagen plants? Not nivel de picante! I love it!

Although stomach is still iffy, that Strawberry Hill sounds delicious; been checking email for updates from my computer geek/tech on how it's going with new computer and the PAT way to share and link new OP to older OP on this laptop--and saw your updates in email. I yelled, "Chris Blackwell!"

Shoulda asked, "Why am I calling this Strawberry Hill?" And offered some powder  :D (or seeds). Met Chris at a SXSW before he sold Island to Polygram. (Never could figure why he signed Laurie Freelove when she sounded so much like Sinead O'Connor, who he already had. Nice guy, though!)

Anyhow, pod porn gorgeous as usual and "Strawberry Hill" looks/sounds like it rocks! I recently aka, smeared some smashed cilantro on lime slices to dehydrate on low. Will be adding that to next JA Hab ferment. Don't think cilantro taste will be going anywhere as juice of lime sealed it. Thanks to you and Scotty for the inspiration  !

I also want you to try that Peach Bhut "Namaste" Sauce I finished yesterday (with my mother's help--really good thing she offered to help me)--had stomach bug Sat. from being up all night getting mid-term essays graded and emailed to registrar so I'd have weekend and week almost free.   Riiiiiight. Also, is weight-loss in brain from being sick the reason JA Hab looked like a scorpion? Again, gorgeous MoA's and like the MoA "infusion" into omelet. "Hab" a great week mi hermano!

Annie, I find that naming a sauce relating to heat level never works out, what’s hot to me is nada for you and so on … thus the tres relating to number of plants, heck I get some good laughs dat way …

As I said in your glog, you going to have a hard time naming dat BOC … please don’t go the Cinco Alarma route. Not after the beautiful creativity you used in da Peach Bhut naming, using “Namaste” was brilliant \o/

Not sure if Chris still owns da Strawberry Hill hotel but if you’re ever in Kingston, it’s a short drive up da hill and a wonderful place to drink a few beers, enjoy da scenery and marvel at all dem doctor birds buzzing around. The powder did come out very tasty but hey what doesn’t go well with JA Hab powder, lol. Now I wish I had dehydrated a bushel of strawberries … oh well, I have some other concoctions that I’ll soon be posting if you liked this one. Didn’t make enough to gift any and what I did make is almost all gone, hehe

Thanks for the kudos on powder and pics, your cilantro lime sounds awesome as well as your Namaste sauce… Hope you over da bug.

Hab a great week!

Thank you for da kudos John and the reminder that I have to catch up on your glog … with da best pictures I’ve seen here, dem rock brethren! Have an excellent weekend mon!

As some of you know I’ve been mixing my powders with dehydrated fruits and this technique adds a new dimension to your powder mixes. Just remember when you see da stuff for sale, you know who dem copied :/ Well I don’t give out all me secrets but here’s one which I call “Strawberry Hill.” Hopefully I’ll have some time to make some different to display tomorrow. Hope you enjoy …

If you’ve heard of Bob Marley then you should know who Chris Blackwell is. Chris owns a few exclusive properties in a few different parishes, the kind of hotels which are memorable, expensive but well worth checking out.  One of my favorites is in Irish Town up in the Blue Mountains called “Strawberry Hill,” which coincidently is what I’ve called one of my powder creations.

I can’t begin to tell you how tasty this stuff is, addicting IMHO but you’ll have to try for yourself ….
