plant-care watering

So in the past, I have had several plants that maybe died from overwatering. I bought a moisture meter from Amazon yet I still added water thinking they were dry. When I recently repotted my Habanero plant due to me adding too much bone meal (see bone meal post) I watered the plant very good that day. That was on June 14th. Here it is June 23 and the plant still does not need to be watered even though the temperature in my apartment has been 70 to 80 degrees. Now I think I got my watering down. All my plants look healthy now and moist not wet.

Noob here, so take my perspective with appropriate weight. I’ve been waiting for the leaves to droop just a little, then watering. Plants are growing quickly and roots flushing.

I judge by weight when in pots. I use 2-7 gallon containers and pick them up to judge how dry they are. There is a learning curve, but once you get it you'll never have problems again.

I start in a solo cup, then transfer to a 2 gallon right before the plant is root bound in the solo cup. I use clear solo cups so it is easy to see root growth and moisture. If the permanent pot is the 2 gallon I use smart pots and top dress every two weeks. 2 gallons in a regular pot will lead to problems by the end of summer, at least in my experience.
