That question can not be answered without a lot more info. What is the site intended for? How much traffic are you hoping for/expecting? I have done a lot of web design, and every single one was different in time in making and so forth. Then once all that is done you have to know how much space and bandwidth you are needing. If I had all that info I could give you a rough estimate at what you should expect.
Look at portfolios, of course, before choosing someone for your website design.
You'll need a host, and a shopping cart, which is software you install once you have a host. Choose your cart now so the designer can work it in.
You shouldn't need a huge hosting plan. You may find an e-commerce solution works better for you, where you pay for the hosting and store/cart together.
Also consider squarespace.com, if you want an easy all-in-one option. You will still need a web designer to do some customization and tweaking so it fits your use case.
Another option is www.dreamhost.com. I use it, and they do one-click installs of WordPress, ZenCart or CafeCommerce shopping carts, and other web programs for you, you just have to specify where on the site. Once they do their part, they send you an e-mail with exact instructions to do the rest, the part that's needed on your end, and the instructions are always spot on.
They go for about $9 a month I've used them since 2004, and couldn't be happier. They also have a network control panel you can use for your domain.
I will be the first to admit, I have put off the website because to me it's actually been the hardest thing to understand. I belive we need a simple 6-7 pages with shopping cart (hopefully people will like our sauces!).. ..I have looked at doing this myself (hmmm) to having it designed for us (ouch!)...2-3 weeks from launch and have to admit this is stumping us!
Good .com domain. Shorter catchy names are better. Nice web host that supports php. A web designer that can create a nice layout ,youd probably need a graphic designer too as some web designers are only developers. The web designer/developer must know how to use Joomla to create a backoffice and any other programming needs, a shopping cart and a merchant paypal account. In a nutshell, that should be able to get you on your way.
There are some sites that offer full templates at a price and all you'd need is someone who can develope to change whatever elements you need and configure them according to your hosting.
From what I remember back when I used to do all this, it should put you out anything between 400$ to 1500$ all depending on what you need and who you know.
Domain is cheap hosting cost a pretty penny depending on how much hosting u want and the design also depends on how u want ur site and if u want a script so u can change it around urself
If the suggestions are not helping, then you probably need a turnkey solution. Just order it, choosse a template, upload your custom logo, point your domain to it, and done.
