Welcome to the world of Homebrewing. You'll find that there are alot of homebrewers on THP and I can tell you, as a new homebrewer myself, that they are all ready and willing to assist. There are also alot of great homebrew sites that you can go to for information, recipes and homebrew talk. The 2 that I really like are:

www.aussiehomebrewer.com

www.homebrewtalk.com

There are some really great resources on them. That said the 3 best pieces of advice that were passed on to me when I did my first batch were

1 Sanitize, Sanitize, Sanitize and then Sanitize again. An infection can really make a great brew into total garbage.

2 If a yeast packet came with the Bitter kit you might not want to use it. You can never tell how long the kit sat around before it came to you and if it sat around for more than a year it's questionable as to whether or not it will do it's job as well as it should. Safer, and you'll get a better tasting brew purchasing a new yeast. Given that your doing an English Bitter you could look for something like Munton & Fison Gold but there are more expierenced brewers than I on here that could give a better recommendation.

Last and perhaps the best advice I was given was to Relax, Don't Worry and have a Home Brew. It's all about enjoying what your doing and then enjoying what you make.

Cheers!

Cheers bro! I'll just use the kit but add some hops to it and see how it goes then get a bit more complex once i get a feel for it! :woohoo:

Your life is now ruined! There will be an unending quest for your perfect homebrew. I finally ended mine but not before spending thousands of dollars on grain brewing, home bottling and kegging. Hope you love your wife. You are going to miss her. But then I'm a musician too...I am a loser x10.

LIAR! You just fail to comply to the strick MAN CODE POINT SYSTEM tm. Failing to continue brewing your own beer/shine for the consumption of oneself and to a grade not less but not limited to mediocre will have the unforgiveble affect of deducting 4 points from your man code total per clause 61a of said man act. You have now a total of 61 man points left. You were born with 100. Giggity. BY GOD.

Well being 17 I've not aquirred a wife yet so's allgood. :)

17 and making beer. Kind if sounds a little odd from over here where the drinking age is 21. But like the Blues Man said you'll be ruined for life now on good brew and all your friends will start groaning everytime you taste a good brew and proudly proclaim "Excelent, I could brew that!"

E17 is a late starter, legal age over here is 18 but i started at just under 16! Didnt ask for i.d. back then just asked for your cash lol

Well, I got the kit in and it's sitting in the bathroom fermenting, I followed the kit except used Demerara sugar instead of White and added a bit of vanilla essence. It smells GUUD.

Some recipes here to play with.
Some are pretty good.
Before it was on the internet I got a version of it on CD.It says you have to have windows 3.1.
Came out in 1994,I think it's not #3,I forget.
