i'm a bit late but my solution is an electric tooth brush, i drilled a small hole in the tip, glued a coat hanger in the tip, and then a cheap eye shadow applicator on the end of the hanger, the toothbrush i have has changeable brushes, so i have a couple for different plants, i keep them covered and labeled, works great so far
