What is the cause in this peachy situation?

Hey all

I got me some peach habanero's the other day,and it made me wonder....why does the colour look peachy and why? What's the history on this? Cause I've heard about peach ghosts and a lot of other.

If I'm correct they are light shades of red. So somebody has a red pepper and they continue to choose the lightest colored pepper from each generation and take seeds and they do so until its peach

I saw a light brown car the other day then someone told me it was "gold" - now it looks gold to me too...
