what is this?

No idea what this is. One is a tomato vine the other is a fig. I saw ants crawling on the figs and it's only secluded to this area. Any ideas and recommendations? Thanks!

Seriously though, I hear scale is hard to control. Give an update if you find something that works, a friend of mine deals with this every year in Cali.

The weird thing is that it's only secluded to one part of the fig, and only 1 vine of all my tomatoes which are right next to each other. The fig i just brushed if all off today. The tomato vine....that's another story
but ants are all over that shit. i'm wondering what the ecology of that is
