What is wrong with my Squash??

2wdycxu.jpg

The plant gets a couple hours of sunlight a day at most, I water every other day. We live in an apartment so that is about as big as the container will get unfortunately, just wondering what it could grow to! I use Vigoro organic potting mix and currently no nutes. I am curious as the flowers bloomed out and then died off but brand new beautiful green leaves are growing so I do not feel as the plant is in danger.

Help is appreciated!

I would say that is probably your biggest problem among other things.
I assume by this comment you mean that it needs more sunlight? If so I could try to move it away from the wall a little to get a little more. It looked as if it was diseased is why I asked but if sunlight is all it is I will see what I can do!

Put a 6000K flourescent light about 3 to 4 inches over it and some Miracle Gro Quick Start. It'll grow big and fast!!

not going to risk somebody stealing that light haha and I guess I should have went with miracle gro organic potting mix vs vigoro, last year my peppers did great with walmart no name potting mix so I didnt think it mattered once I add nutes anyways. Vigoro was having a good sale it was <2/3 the price of miracle gro.

What exactly is powdery mildew?

Update: Today The two big leaves did not get any better.

Cut off those 2 big leaves, discard them, and treat the rest.  Or just start over since they grow so fast anyways.

Powdery mildew is well, mildew.  It is from your plants being too wet at night (in prone plants),  And perhaps not enough sun during the day.  I would protect it from getting too wet if you are getting tons of rain.

It was raining alot here recently and I moved it out into the sunlight more as the 2nd picture is now on ground versus under the patio. Snipped the 2 bad leaves back to just a stub. Hope the apartment landlord doesnt complain about there being a squash plant in our yard haha. Thanks for the tips guys!
