what to do if someone doesn't hold their end of the bargain

If you did a good deed, leave it at that. There's no room for resentment in a good deed. If you are frustrated enough to start a thread about your "payback", then you haven't been through much in life. Anytime you "gift" something (especially on the internet), it should be given with the best intentions and that's it.

That said, if it was an agreed upon "trade", then that sucks, and it ain't right. Who is this prominent member? Have they posted in awhile? Hopefully nothing bad happened to them to prevent them from responding. I would choose to believe the best before accusing them of being a weasel or scamming. Especially if they have been a member for awhile. Let it go, move on. You did a good thing and that's all that matters.

edit: For the record, about a year ago, Husker sent me a bunch of his awesome sauces, and I have yet to repay him with my Scovie Powder. I feel awful but he knows that when I finally get around to making it, he is #1 on the list. It was not an agreed upon "trade", he just sent them to me and I want to repay him. That's how it should be. Gifts. All around.
Pfft. All good in the hood. Did it cause I wanted to. As I say to the HS kids I coach, do good things for other people and good things will happen for you.

Damn I'm glad I used my junk email to subscribe to the classifieds :)

Confirmed that my issue was not with the same member although there are others that I have confirmed with who also got the shaft.  Like I said, I'll chalk mine up to a learning experience, dont use a priority mailer for a SASBE and spend $9 on shipping.  Oh and the member I had issues with has a few more posts, like 3500 worth.

I guess I could always do like a member from another board did when Chrysler tried to screw him at his dealership.  Since his last name was Tator members of the forum stared sending a potato to Chrysler's mail room.  He got a phone call asking him to please tell his friends to stop sending potatoes, they were getting a few hundred a day :P

Yes, and EEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Great idea, though~~~~~~~!!!!

I sent an SASBE and was really excited for some seeds I can't find anywhere else, but it was a couple days late... The man told me my seeds were waiting for me so I went ahead and sent out the envelope... This was over a month ago. I have tried to talk to him multiple times but it seems he's ignoring me. I learned it isn't worth it to keep asking and to just let it go... Just wish he would've told me he couldn't send it out. If you're the person doing these offers, just be honest. Don't say you'll do something you can't.

I sympathize with those that have held up their end of the deal, only to receive nothing in return.

You could PM one of the Admins and ask for advice. I'm sure they'd frown upon this type of behavior as it reflects badly against those that do the right thing.

I`m in the same boat as Denniz, although I suspect much worse. Remind me if I forget, it`s a pain for you to do it, but I`ll try my best!

This thread has inspired me to get back in contact with a member about a potentially forgotten request ......

We'll see what happens :)

Regards,

Tim
