What would you do in this situation?

So, last year I created a hybrid. I'm growing it out this year and have gotten several pods. I've sent them to a few different people to see what they thought about it. All of them said it was hot, awesome, great, etc.

Obviously I was pretty excited about it. So I thought "man I need to get this to a pod reviewer and let them show everyone here what they think of it." So I chose a reviewer and asked if they had anything lined up already and that they would be able to do the review. Of course, they replied, send it on over. Not wanting to ship a single pod, I filled a sfrb and sent it out, using my own money as I figured they were doing me a favor. A couple days later and I hadn't heard from them. So I PM and ask if they arrived and if they had a chance to taste it. Not yet, just got off work, will do it tomorrow. Awesome, looking forward to watching this. Few more days and nothing, another PM and, yea I'm just about to do it....Well here we are going on 3 weeks and no review, no apology, not even a PM explaining what happened. I know the pods are long gone now so there will be no review, from them at least.

Anyways, I'm just trying to see what any of you would do. I'm not looking for any money necessarily, just curious to hear from you guys.

I would kindly ask for the money back even though you said that's not what your looking for... you sent he pods so the person would review them not D*CK you around and not do the review.....

Chalk it up as a loss.  I'mnot even sure why people send their hybrids out and about unless de-seeded.  Grow them bitches out for a few years at least.  Who's to say he won't grow them his self, coin a name and claim them?

Right there's your answer. I wouldn't even ever bring it up again with this person. Maybe it was intentional, maybe something happened, but either way you still rock.

if they don't do the review ask for your money back and like the others say chalk it up as a loss. its sad a few bad apples ruin there reputation with great people like you coheed......

They didn't pay me to begin with, so there's no money to get back really. It is possible that the video just hasn'tb een uploaded I suppose.

That would irk me too especially when you did all the footwork gratis not to mention grow the plant. As you said, theres a remote chance that they're still editing the video though.

I'm not super upset about it, it's not a world record or anything like that. I'm not evenups et about the postage money. It's just the principal of it all.

I hope the guy did it & will upload soon...

Vincent, I am disappointed to hear this. From my point of view as someone who is lucky enough to reviews pods from the exceptionally generous people here on THP, it`s very unfortunate that you are in this position.

However, sometimes it`s very hard to review things on time. For instance, I had a bout of puking and diarrhea a couple of weeks ago that lasted 3 days. I couldn`t eat a superhot for another 4 days afterwards, as my internal systems were slightly messed up. If I am trying to review 4-6 pods a week, that really messes up the schedule. The trick is, for me anyway, not to accept pods to review if there are 2 or 3 sfrb`s sat in the kitchen. I`m certain I am not alone in this, either.

We also had 3 weeks of 100+° heat, I was sick and our house has no AirCon, so doing the video editing was a pain in the neck. I ate a hydroponic brain strain from PexPeppers 3 weeks ago, but only got the video uploaded a few days ago. It was my bad, no question, but sometimes life conspires against the very best of intentions.

I hope your reviewer can deliver the review for you and for the rest of us to watch. I guarantee that there were no bad intentions or that it take a little longer than usual, whoever you sent the sfrb to. In my two experiences with a sfrb from you, it`s entirely possible that the pods are still Ok, as your stuff is extremely fresh and lasts a long time.

I have a hybrid I am working on too but nothing with seed goes out. I have gotten opinions by drying them whole and powdering them up. Hope you get to see the reviews soon.

Wow.

I really don't get the whole "reviewer" thing in the first place, I prefer to know how peppers taste from personal experience. But in this case with it being a rather unknown pod I understand why you might want to have an outboard opinion from someone that supposedly knows their way around the pepper farm.

Pretty sad that they wouldn't hold up their part of the bargain though. Especially when it cost you some money and time to make the effort. Shameful actually.

Let me know who they are through PM, and I'll be happy to TP their house for you. I'll even put a flaming bag of dog poop on their front porch and ring the doorbell.

No really... I would :)

Lol, that's not necessary. I like to send things to reviewers because I don't eat whole supers. I'll try a piece of something just to see how it is. I put them on food all the time, but I'm not one that can pick up on all the flavors and such. And because, well I like foods that others may not. So I want to know if iit's just me or if others would like to grow it and stuff as well

Well, if you ever want to try again, holla brutha.

With the exception of the Carolina Faker, and the Bubblegum 7, I've had about every pepper under the sun. From Barrakpores to Savanah 7s, to brown Morougas to Silver Surfer's crazy Douglah crosses. I chow down on whole pods daily. Multiple times when I have the supply.  I don't do the regular review thing because they are so overdone. These days with a few exceptions it seems it's become a poor man's bungie jump. Like an extreme challenge with no danger except maybe a case of the hiccups, yakking into the yard, or dealing with a few stomach cramps. But as I've said before, if it's something unique, I would sure fire up the camera.

Hell... For the honor of such thing I'd even pay for the peppers and the shipping.

And I'd do it the day I got the peppers :)

Cheers!

I would be mad as a shaved cat but I would just let it go. I would make sure via one more message that I didn't appreciate what they did.
