Why does it seem that everything that could go wrong or break, do so when you can not possible take care of the problem?
To begin with my In-Laws have been here since Thursday (not too bad since I do get along with them) and discovered on Friday directly over the head of their bed the roof was leaking. My wife and her Dad moved things around so that the water wasn't dripping on the bed. My wife then traced to source of the leak to the roof that is over our Master Bath. There was a huge Ice Dam (about 2 1/2 inches of ice under the snow covering the roof) and since our house is about 110 years old, I guess that bathroom isn't insulated real well and combined that I have been enjoying taking baths in our Jacuzzi heating up the whole room, the snow started to leak, but the water didn't have anywhere to go. Just fixed that problem yesterday, I think. I had a friend come over and climb up to the roof and melted the ice dam off the edge of the roof. You would think that would be cause for celebration, right?
Well, seems that around here when one problem is fixed another bubbles up...
Last night my wife went down to the basement to do some laundry and all I could hear was her screaming. So I grab my crutches and hobble down and what I find, almost made me cry. The sewer backed up and there was sh*t on our basement floor! Keep in mind that under normal circumstances I would have felt pissed, but not devastated because I am capable of fixing this problem since I was a Plumber for years before, but there is no way I can use a drain machine now. So now I sit here waiting on the Rotor Rooter guy to arrive and praying that our old clay sewer line didn't collapse (we do not have any trees near buy to get roots tangled in the line and trust me when I say, it takes a lot of poo to clog a 4" line).
Sorry to rant, I feel better now of course I haven't seem the Rotor Rooter guy yet or his bill and after reading this I'm sure you'll feel like ranting too, but about how long it is.
