Who scored big on Black Friday?

I have never shopped on Black Friday until last year, because I hate crowds and such, but I must say there are some good deals out there.

Last year I got a good deal on a muzzleloader.

This year I got a nice 30-gun safe, a 22' folding ladder, and a 6 quart enameled cast iron dutch oven. My wife got a Samsung tablet (online).

I left my house at 5:15am, and was back in my driveway with everything on my list by 6:40am. I figured we saved over $700 this year. :woohoo: I'll stand out in the cold for 30 minutes any day for $700.

Anybody else out shopping this morning?

What did you get?

I worked at Best Buy once on a Black Friday, and it nearly turned into a melee because we had run out of the laptop that was severely discounted (it was selling for $299 if I recall) within 45 minutes of opening our doors. The irony is, that laptop was one were were trying desperately to get rid of to make room for better, more current models.

Just so you know it is a proven fact that if you shop deal at the beginning of November you will surpass almost EVERY Black Friday Deal.

I compared about 15 purchases I have from Cabela's over the last 60 days and my deal then is superior to the deal today :) The Big Game tree stand I bought are $99 today reg $159 and I got 2 for $159 about 4 weeks ago. Tons of Scent-Lok stuff was also much cheaper weeks back.

I am sure there are SOME deals to be had but almost all price comparison studies will show the same items cheaper 4 to 6 weeks earlier.

Yeah, I have heard that too. That's why I just get a few things that are for sure a good deal. I've been in the market for a gun safe like the one I got this morning for over a year, and couldn't find anything even close to this deal.

I recently bought a Big Game tree stand as well (few months ago). I got the Titan XT, and love it so far. Super comfy!

Yeah man, they make some decent stands for sure. Going to buy the next step up if I get a deal because I have one more perfect spot for a stand. Hell if the deal is right I'll snag two, they just cut most of the trees from the 100 acres I hunt and the cutover is primed and epic. Hell already almost tagged out and have not even fired the shotgun :)

My daughter and nieces spend thanksgiving dinner with store maps and drawings working out the logistics of who wants what and where it's on sale. You'd think they were planning an all out attack or prison break. My favorite story this year is how one of my nieces lost a fingernail (glue-on) over a kids pajamas that was 50% off. She said it's gonna cost her 25 bucks to replace the fancy nail just so she could save 10 bucks on some pj's.

One year my buddy talked me into going with him on black Friday. It was a bunch of BS and I can not see how people can enjoy shopping. We went to walmart to find a laptop or TV. Anyways we get inside and there are lines everywhere and they are handing out maps at the front like your about to go on some kind of quest. I look over at my buddy and he has some crazed look in his eye. He said," you go that way and I'll go this way, call me if you find it". That would be the last time I would see him that night. I made my way around the store once and couldn't even remember why the hell I was there in the first place. People were running, pushing, shouting, kids are crying and throwing up, I'm like WTF. I call my buddy to try and get the keys to wait in the car and for some reason there was no cellular service. I lived like a mile away and staying there was not an option so I decided to walk my ass home. My buddy didn't even realize I left until he called 2hrs. after I got home. "Why did you leave?" he asked. Never again will I go anywhere for black friday. Some people live for that kinda stuff but not for me.

Thanks for explaining that mountain of BBQ shit I bought when I returned to posting, I didn't feel like it at the time =)

I add things I'm interested to a Google Drive doc w/ URL's and XPath to the price and keep running log of it's price and it generates a column showing me what percentage things are from their average since being tracked ... and it said all that stuff was mostly 25-30% discounted, so I took care of it then ...

Not spending today ...
