Why do weeds not grow in my garden?

When I first started my gardens, I had to pull weeds weekly. Now they are a rare occurance. I really don't mulch. The soil is pretty soft. Yet I can go a more than a month without pulling a weed. It's strange to me. I have to pull more weeds out of my gravel landscaping.

and yes I like it; just curious if anyone has a thought besides there are no seeds.

I'm no expert, but since it's Phoenix I'd assume that the sun is just frying the ever-loving crap out of everything that's not already established.

There is an organic additive at homedepot that is supposed to stop the germination of seeds in a garden... Which means one would have to plant plants, and not direct sow their veggies... However, its definitely something I'm considering with 400 chili plants.

IF you've kept them pulled before they seed and not added new soil or compost that had weed seed in it then there is probably less seed than there used to be and add to that a well established root system of the plants you have growing and that would result in fewer weeds growing than normal.

In my raised beds I have grass shooting up in it. Not, weeds, just grass. It's a neverending battle too. Pull one and 3 more pop up. Everyday I am pulling grass.
