Why isn't there a chili festival in AU?

I'm soon to be relocating to NSW, and though there are a few chile festivals here in the states, I haven't seen any listed in Australia.
Are there really out here in the AU? If not, how many of you are keen upon having a festival of sorts?

Good question! I've never heard of any.... well, specific chilli festivals that is. But then again, I haven't been on the scene all that long either.....

There is a few but they are rather lackluster. Where in steak and kidney are you moving to?

There was (I believe for the first time) a fiery foods festival in Melbourne a few months ago... which I missed! Argghh.
That's the only one I've heard of.
I'm sure there is room for many, many more. I would certainly be interested.

What about the Sawtell Chilli Festival ??

Never been but it seems to be about the biggest chilli festival close (approx 4 hrs) to where I live

Those mentioned are about it in Aus. I have had stalls at Sawtell (half way between Sydney & Brisbane) and here in Perth. I would have to say that I think perth is the biggest one however I dont know about numbers for Haggis' festival. We had around 20,000 in attendance
