Why kill last years plants?

Probably getting a little off topic here, and take the source with a grain of salt, but I read in Wikipedia that a tepin can live as long as fifty years. One of my OWs is a now three year old tepin. Just a baby, I guess.

PS - Welcome to page 2.

We're having a mild winter so far.

I have a few peppers that I haven't pulled up yet (in grow bags), and they're still looking fine.  We've had several frosts, but no hard freezes yet.

The two plants that I designated as my "over-winters" don't look as good as the plants I just left alone.  I've been carefully shuffling my "over-winters" in and out of the garage when the temperature's supposed to get into the thirties.  They are also in plastic pots as opposed to grow bags.

I may be jinxing myself, but there's a chance I'll get through this winter without a hard freeze.  My typical last freeze is in the end of February.
