Will a Light Freeze Kill?

I have six or so Carolina Reaper plants outside and we are expecting a light freeze here in New Orleans in the next day or 2 (just expected to maybe go into low 30's in the early morning hours).

Will a couple of hours below freezing kill them?  They have a few orange peppers on them but they are a bit bigger now and I really don't have the room to bring them in.

I babysat them all last winter under a lamp and we didn't freeze once.

The important thing is that the earth is not frozen..

I would recommend to get your plants inside.

Are your plants in the ground or in pots?

If you planted them in pots  you could wraps something like blankes around the pots to keep the earth warm.

Yeah, they are in pots but all clumped together so I may be able to wrap them in something to hold in a bit of heat but not much.

I was hoping that they may survive the winter if we get only 2 or 3 light frosts, but I'm not sure how hearty they are.

no a light freeze / frost won't kill.

you can cover them with some clear poly(like at depot/lowes) that'll help a little.
