Hello, people!

My name is *****, I am 23 years old. I am from Southeast Brazil.

I like "hot" foods and for this reason I decided to start growing my own peppers. I started looking for some information about it and then I found this forum, which seemed to be a great help as there are many experienced people on the subject.

One of the biggest difficulties I may find is that it is very hard to grow anything outdoors here, I do not have much money to invest, and indoor growing is not an alternative at all.

If anyone could tell me if I can succeed in growing peppers in my environment I would thank (will be told on request). But to try costs nothing and if it works, it is rewarding!

I will do my best to learn. And if possible, harvest at least 1 pepper I grew myself.

Thank you!

Bem-vindo . Your in Brazil should be easy to grow peppers there depending where your at of course and yes you need not invest much. Get peppers at your market and grow those

Welcome to THP from Northern California. You should give a little detail about your inhospitable climate. We may be able to tell you what peppers will work best in your climate or zone.

I wish to thank everybody: Thank you all!

I am located somewhere in "Rio de Janeiro" state. Practically at sea level (10-20m).

I have a space available in my back yard, there is the only place I have available. About 60% of the area gets 3.5 hours of direct sunlight everyday (from 8:40am to 12:15pm, approximately), if pot is moved along the day I can nearly double that (6 hours + some minutes, going from 8:40am till 3:00pm). My front yard sees the light of sun only on late Spring until late Summer.

The lowest temperature I get here is on Autumn/Winter, which is normally about 50-60°F (during night)... Below that is possible but very rare. The lowest temperature recorded here was 41°F on April 1979 (source: wikipedia).

The highest temperature I get here is on Spring/Summer, which is normally about 95-105°F... Higher than that is possible but very rare.

We usually get an absurd amount of rain during Summer, Autumn/Winter just light and friendly rain fall.

Lowest temperature recorded in 2014: 12°C / 53°F (on August, July)
Highest temperature recorded in 2014: 39°C / 102°F (on February, December)

Relative humidity on Spring/Summer is usually around 80-99%. And on Autumn/Winter usually 50-80%.

If you need more information, please let me know.

Thank you very much!

If your winter lows are in the 50s then your good. You seem to have great weather for growing peppers I think. Rain might be an issue but you can put them under something for cover
