Xatu's 2020 Grow

Want to give thanks to MidWestChilieHeads for supplying me with the Aji Pineapple and Madame Jeanette x Goronong. They also threw in some Rattlesnake and Ms. Junie, which I'll be blending in with salsa and stews later on this year.

Grow List
  1. Carolina reaper
  2. Red Bhut Jolokia
  3. Aji Pineapple
  4. Madame Jeanette x Goronong
  5. Rattlesnake
  6. Ms. Junie
The reapers and bhuts went into paper towel germination on 3/5. Received the other seeds a day later, and planted them directly into solo cups with soil. Will report back next week, hopefully, once the tap roots on the super hots has shown.

Nice list! Let me know about the Jeanette x Goronong; I had bad luck with them (no sprout) earlier this year. After I contacted John at MCH, he send me another pack (free of charge; thanks again John!) but unfortunately the result was the same: 0% germ rate... Sad because I was really looking to grow this pepper cross which is quite hard to find...

I'll be sure to keep the thread updated. Thanks for the heads up. May put some seeds to germinate in paper towels then, just to be safe

Damn, that's too bad.  I bought some Madame Jeanette x Goronong from MidWestChilieHeads last year, or the year before, can't remember....but they sprouted fine, no issues(same with the rest of my seeds from them).

If you're still looking to get some for this season, I should have a little bit saved, open-pollinated though.  pm me if you need

That's really kind of you Jubnat but I already have way more plant on the way compare to what I was suppose to so... I'll take note of your offer for next year!! Thanks again and good luck with your grow ;)

3/12

After a week of being in paper towels, tap roots on super hots have yet to show on the reapers and bhuts.

Seeds in soil also have yet to sprout.

I'm estimating a total of 10-12 days for tap roots to start showing, and 2 weeks for soil seeds to sprout.

Hey, Xatu.

A week isn’t terribly long to wait. I usually
give them a month. They will sprout after that,
possibly, but by then they are sort of late for
our short grow season.

Good luck in 2020!

10 days later and still no growth.. I do see one of the seedlings has sprouted in the solo cups I have outside, but no other progress

So the rattlesnakes grew up pretty fast, and a couple of the ms.junie's are looking strong.

Bad news is that the bhut and reaper seeds I started to germinate from frozen pods aren't showing any signs of life.

I also have 2 aji pineapples that are looking good. There's one in the ~3 gallon black pot, and another in a red solo cup.

MxG seeds are a no show. Had to sow more, in hopes they sprout.

Really hoping the aji pineapples and MxG seeds take off, for a little variety :shh:

At least some progress going on, Xatu.

It can be hard trying to wait out the stubborn
seeds.  Every time I plant a replacement round,
the originals sprout, too, and I wind up with too
many seedlings.

Good luck going forward.
