Xmas sauce

Well i made another sauce from some Fatalii and orange habaneros. Added some spices, that my cook friend from work recommended .

The recipe:

Rose hip pulp 5 dl.

Apple pulp 5 dl.

2 onions.

3 garlic cloves.

1 teaspoon of peppermix.

1 teaspoon of powdered ginger.

2 teaspoons of Rosesalt.

2 teaspoons of brown sugar.

1 dl of honey flavored apple winegar .

3 cold smoked orange habaneros.

6 cold smoked Fatalii.

1 teaspoon of Jeera.

1/2 spice measure of star aniseed.

1/2 spice measure of clove.

First step is to Grill the chopped onions and garlic in small amount of olive oil and peppermix. Grill them up real good, that the onions have plenty of brown spots, that only help to add more taste to the sauce.

Add other ingredients to stainless steel pan and boil the stuff up. When the onions are grilled, add them to the pan and boil the stuff up some more and use a blender to make the final sauce:

Bottle the stuff up and enjoy:

The Sauce turned out real good in my opinion, hot bbq style taste with a smoky Fatalii kick.

That's what jumped out at me too, was the rose hips. Never having used them before, I have been told though they taste much like a cranberry with a hint of spicy flavor?

Keep us posted.

Well i just tasted the plain rose hip pulp without any added sugar and it tastes sort of cranberry with slight hint of blueberry.

Hmmm, I guess it could all depend on what type of rose plant it is your using? I would never have thought to ever use rose hips, and I have rose bushes here. I did google a recipe for apple sauce using them, sounds pretty good.

They say, that the best kind of rose hips comes from "Rosa rugosa". That's very popular rose growing in Finland and few other places.

Had to Google that one, Japanese rose....very pretty too. Haven't added any new roses to my gardens in a few years, maybe next year. ;)

Rugosa rose is naturalized in many parts of Europe, and it is considered an invasive species in some habitats, particularly in seashores of North Europe It can out-compete native flora, thereby threatening biological diversity. It is also considered a noxious weed in the USA.

Plant some seeds and i am sure you have plenty of rose hips to pick in a few years. :P

The taste of the sauce has been maturing for a bit and i must say it's a success. Few of my friends have been asking for the stuff, but i dont have much left. :P

Maybe add some more garlic and it would taste even better. Still have the slight hp sauce smell to it, but tastes nothing like it.
