I've had much success thanks to both JR and Wildfire!
I currently have successfully germinated:

Butch Taylor Trinidad Scorpion
Scotch Bonnet TFM
Bahamian Goat Pepper
Yellow Cayenne
Chocolate Bhut Jolokia
Yellow Bhut Jolokia

Oh yeah!! I haven't had them in there very long but things are going fast! Should have more sprouts soon!

So, Thanks again JungleRain & Wildfire!!

Sooooooo.... Read probably 20pages on this topic and uh.. where in the #@%^#$@* are you guys getting these superhot seeds?!?! I read some grow lists and I'm sittin here talking to myself going "what the #@?%? really??! wait.. wtf is that? Where did he!? WHOA... purple who?!" Anyway.. been to COUNTLESS websites. I've never seen or heard of a good 70% of junglerains grow list. I'm probably just in the wrong neck of the world.. Washington's not exactly Australia.

PS.. How stabilized are the strains?

Your've just got to sacrifice your soul to the Chilli Demons :hell:

Hey Trippa,

I don't know if they have the same up your way, but at bunnings down here they have a pot plant recycling bin out the front of the garden centre......I just happen to borrow quite a few pots from the bin instead of paying for new stuff....

Been raiding the Bunnings recycling bin for quite a while now.
Just got to be lucky to find the big ones but beats the hell out of buying them!
Bunnings needs to be shot for the price they charge!!!!!!

Micca

The rocotos seem to be going well for you Harry!

I think I started with about 20 seeds from a spoiled straight off the largest Rocoto plant. Fingers crossed I'll be up to my ears in Rocoto pods.

Fourteen Rocoto Seedlings

The seedlings have made reasonable progress in the last 14 days given the weather. The one bang in the centre plus the one straight down from it were the two that lost their first true leaves due to the hail. Today's sprout is in the top right corner of the photo.

Yeah I've done it a few times too but you have to be sneaky. My mum got told off once for raiding the Bunnings near her! They said you weren't allowed to take them and made her put them back

Interesting you say that.
I only found out there was a bin when I approached a Bunnings worker and asked what they do with the leftover pots and if I was able to grab ones that were sitting there.
She told me that they have got to mark them off in the book or something and then said they throw them in the recycling bin and hinted to go out there to get them.

I haven't been sneaky at all, maybe I might need to

Hey Nova, go raid your Bunnings recycling bin it's a goldmine(if someone hasn't been there before ya) :)

Micca

No problem Bro!

Just seen the weather and they said the top for today was 12.9DegC, holy crap thats freakin cold.

Micca

Yeah they said it was for recycling and you arent allowed to. I can see why though cos then you don't buy their overpriced pots!
You prob got a worker that didn't think of that or care

Yeah it was cold today, lucky im inside all day with the heater. Are you still riding your bike to work micca or does a bus go there? Bet you can't wait to get your license back!

Awwww now its out  Yeah some person in some sort of "official" job told me I wasn't allowed :shame:
Ahh another 3 months to go and all sweet! Been busing it if it rains then pushy if it's clear. Looked really funny riding in 1.5Deg.C temp the other morning wearing my stack hat and beanie underneth it.

You should try a balaclava and then stack hat and with a cliche black and white striped jumper and see what kind of looks you get.

Funny I was going home a month or 2 ago and some dude was just wearing a big square paper bag with eye holes cut out biking along with a suit on ... was a pretty funny scenario ...

maybe if you bought something in-store first it may not be as bad. Buy a 50c pot and then go scavenging for the big ones out back

Not sure if it's simply wishful thinking, but I have a lot of hopes for a scorching summer, as winter is so cold here this year!! Especially now that we're not really in drought anymore.

The rocotos seem to be going well for you Harry!

Glad it's working out for you Karl, but you have to thank yourself too! You did all the hard work.

Yeah I am inclined to disagree, but that's my nature, all you guys did was help out. It really is surprising how easy it is, and to think I got so many chinenses to germinate in under 2 weeks, most within a week... Not sure if that's beginners luck or just good seeds. Nonetheless, I am truly excited about spring!!

Now your trippin Trippa :D
If I saw that I would think twice about having any more  I would have seen it all!

I am a veteran of raiding the recycling bin at two different bunnings stores - which isn't hard because the stores are every 10 metres.

At one store I had to do it sneakily because my father in law got told off for doing it. I got a big stack of big pots at this one. At another storre I asked a group of 3 staff and they said it was no problem and to go ahead, but I only got mostly small ones.

Yes they should be shot for the price they charge for what must be 2 cents of plastic.

I got that itch today... you know what I mean, we all get it...

My grow cupboard proved far too small so I dug out my old light fittings and put up some shelves... and now my seedlings are bathed in purple goodness.
