Justaguy's 2011 Garden Season

Quick update with no pics. The back beds 2 naga morich blown over that should be able to be tied up.

The Fatalii bed has been all but destroyed. Thanks Hurricane Irene

Your Red Fatalii reminds me of a plant I grew a few years ago. The seeds were originally labeled Fatalii, but the pods looked similar to what you have. I ended up calling it a Fatabanero because I thought it was a Fatalii-Hab cross. Very tasty and hot pod though - I need to grow it again. Here's a link to the old thread - http://www.thehotpepper.com/topic/11177-fatalii-cross-pics/page__p__217449 Sweet pics as usual!

I see what you mean. I don't have a pineappleish like taste with mine though. Mine were crossed with a Red Savina, so I guess if I were to try and put a name on it I would go with Fatalvina.

Man, what a bitch (Irene). :tear:

Good thing you just harvested those peppers. :woohoo:

Holy shit, do you think the Pepper Fest farm is messed up too?

Nice pod shots and fine harvest of some pretty reds.

Sorry to hear about the storm damage, that sucks. :(

I agree with Patrick, bacterial leaf spot.

Thanks. I ran to the local Hydro shop and picked the owners brain about an hour ago. He thinks it came from the big heat we had a couple weeks ago and a CalMag deficiency. All the superhots are loving life. The fruit that is on the Nards is still ripening fine.
Its NOT calmag deficiency. Its fungus/baterial spot.

edit: lol how funny is it that the hydro shop dude actually said "calmag deficiency" ! lol and it JUST so happens that there is a product called "calMag" lol! Dude, your leg is broken, you have a 1000$ cast deficiency! LOL!

Well he said Calcium or Magnesium deficiency. Anywho..... I read somethings and will try some things. I see little brown bumps on some fruits in 1 of the other gardens here and there. Patrick that site has pictures of little bumps that can result. Minimal fruit loss so no worries there. Thanks all for the advice. I may just remove the Nards for this year

Back to my suggestion to use copper, as it is supposed to help with bacteria, etc.

I've got a couple plants I started from seed from fataliii pods graciously given to me by SS. The leaf shape is very different from the fatalii's I got from CCN, and the pods are rather non-fatalii like - they're also coming out red, although the pods the seeds came from were yellow. The shape is more standard habanero-shape - rounded on the bottom, not quite as wrinkled as fatalii. I haven't tried one yet, as they're not quite ripe, but am curious about them, and whether they have that pineapple taste, too. Of course, not telling what these crossed with, given the SS jungle! I wonder if they can double- or even triple-cross.......

That yellow Scorp has a wicked color man! It looks just like a lemon. And if the rest of the pods look like that does, you definitely have a poster-worthy plant! Keep the pics coming, always impressive.

OK Irene roughed up the Fatalii bed.
These are after I tied plants back up and removed broken branches.
Lost half the True Fatalii and several branches from the reds. The hole in the middle is where the true Fatalii was / [sup]1[/sup]/[sub]2[/sub] still is. I will now be in there to pick the middle plants.

Sweet. Glad you liked them
I love how the endorphin rush makes people philosophical. I think you may have found a new hobby. You should throw this in the review forum and you may end up with others wanting to send you pods. Thanks and glad you liked them.
The plants are loaded and starting to ripen. Have to get new sides on that one tomorrow and a frame pieces to prepare for fall plastic covering.

I found one in the new garden out back yesterday. Woohoo one out front and one in the back now. When tearing out plants this ear I will be keeping an eye open for an eggsack.

Yesterday I picked my first red Trinidad Scorpion. Neighbor stopped over and donated $5 towards next years garden for 3 bhuts for some chili. Told her I didn't want anything so she said it was for next years garden. While getting one I look over the other way and 3 rows over see this beauty through an opening in the leaves made by fate.

Today was fun. Almost took a nap in the Hab Tunnel.
Got a huge Naga Morich out of the garden with many more.

And here is today's harvest. Not laying it out on the stove since I just took the Fatalii cheesecake out of the oven and the stove top is quite warm.
That is a 5 gallon bucket.
100_1242.jpg

Left tub: Caribbean Red Habs, Jimmy Nardellos, Naga Morich, Yellow Scorpions
Bucket: all Red Fatalii's with maybe 4 True yellow Fatalii's in there
Right tub: Naga Jolokia's covered with red habs for market

Some(~a pound) will go to market where they pay $10 a pound. Good deal for them and excess for me so Win-Win. The rest for now are hitting the freezer until I need them. Thinking about smoking a kilo with apple wood.
