lol reread my comment Europeans brought peppers back from the Americas via sea trade and then brought them down overland trade networks and other sea trade routes to the rest of the world lol

Yes, but I don't see how this is relevant.

Edit: In fact, I might be wrong. They were probably traded before Europeans entered the new world. I'm wondering how the Trinidad types of peppers could be from Asian decent as claimed by Ed.

i took it as taken from the Americas, then on the reverse diasporasis returned to the modern world being "from" asia / sub-asia.

I thought he said he didn't know but spent money finding out its DNA history ? I dunno. All I know is that peppers taste good where ever they are from.

He said, "many people will be surprised," which seemed to imply that they were. Perhaps I'm wrong about that! It seems unlikely, but the Trinidad peppers could have gone to Asia from the New World and then back. I'm curious to what information he has!

Thanks for the fascinating and informative addition to this thread. Anything else you're not buying today you would like to tell everyone about? Nice to see one of my pictures is getting good use as your avatar. That will be $15 please.

One, I got the picture from Google images to find a cool looking pepper, so take it as a complement on your growing/photography skills... sadly I will also not be paying $15 for this Avatar. Two, I think I can state my opinion on the price and that it has put me off buying this pepper in this thread as It is relevant to the conversations above.

Honestly I don't think its a horrible price. I mean I payed as much for a good strain of authentic tepins... Within a year Illh ave hundreds of seeds so it becomes more than worth it.. But if you dont think so, don't buy it.

My only thing is i want heat level proof and I want to try it myself. But the pricing shouldnt be a problem. You dont like it dont buy it.

Pics on Google images are linked to their original source and are not free. You can link to the hosted pic, otherwise its theft

Its not really theft if its not copyrighted and if viewable by the general public. Plus I'm not selling it as my own as its just an avatar. I would say at least 50% of avatars come from an image that is not shot/created by the user that is widely available on the internet.

Purely my opinion.
The market will pay the going rate for the seeds because the seeds are in demand and at the moment there are only 2 suppliers. It is supply and demand - simple economics and I am happy to pay the price to get these seeds early - by the end of next year everyone will be trading them and the price will have to drop.
I do feel however that they are taking advantage by charging $8 to ship to Europe for postage which costs $1.05 on the USPS website

Yes but all the demand has been created by the as yet unsubstantiated claims of the vendors. And now the seeds are actually being sold prior to the promised disclosure of information. Whether they are actually the hottest ever or not is irrelevant, they fact is they have been marketed with dubious ethics.

I've been taking shots of pepper spray to keep the tolerance levels up in anticipation of this pepper. I'll also be buying these seeds off pure stupidity and curiosity, and because of people like Ted. Who, I feel, is honest about his reviews and although a little crazy, is true to the chili head world and his reputation.
Mr. Ed has obviously done his homework and judging by Ted's review, even if it's not a record breaker, it's still gonna burn a hole in your face. Plus, I thought records were meant to be broken?

I really don't get why some people are complaining about the price and crying out ripoff or to boycot.
I few months ago it way "MY CHOICE" to spend $70 on some pks of seeds I decided to purchase all the way from AUS.
Should I cry ripoff if I decide to go to one of the 5 star hotels on the island and pay $14 for a Stoli Vodka?
Its their product and they can decide to sell it for whatever they want to sell it for. If you think its too expensive don't buy it.
I will be ordering my pack and I feel that it is a reasonable price for what I'm getting.

I went for 2 pks just to try them.
For me its just a hobby growing peppers (something interesting to do that i like) i figure as much other money i have spent on other items for growing peppers the seeds is just another item to me.
