event 2012 Northwest Chilefest- official thread

Kanaskat-Palmer was a beautiful place. And the rangers were sports.

Scovie- the Silver Ridge place I posted a link to is not the dust bowl we looked at. Silver Ridge is on the other side of I-90. They look to be a nice green place, they sort of cater to horse people, so they look to have a large place, many campsites, the lodge, and they also do events/groups. There's some pics of weddings/reunions. And They are private, so hopefully they'd be willing to work with us.

Both Sun Banks and Sun Lakes places would be great also. I'm still hoping we can find a place closer to Seattle so maybe some day-trippers can still make it. Check out the Silver Ridge link, see what you think.

I'm hassling the boys to get that video of Anthony uploaded.

I'm working on my videos now. i will have my "aftermath" video up first, then get to the challenge itself. i made two since the challenge itself took close to 15mins. cant wait to see Anthony's

And MANY MANY Thanks to you, SilverSurfer for your top notch contributions! I have a plan for the few chiles that didn't get nabbed, you'll be in on that also~ ;)

Ok so I am putting this on my bucket list. I want to come there for one of these. You guys are all so cool and putting you all together with a bunch of booze, fire, and food has to be unbelievable.

It was pretty awkward when we all piled in nmorris' minivan and rolled into the nearest church Sunday morning looking for ice.

COME ON OUT!!!!

By the way, that's an open invitation to all THP, and if you'd read the original post about being from the NW, want to be from the NW, have a relative in the NW, think the NW is pretty....then you qualify to come to the NWCF.

ps-bwaaahhaaahahahaa Church? Sunday? I must of missed that while cooking eggs to order and serving up Incinerator Gravy.

That reminds me, another story~
The day before I prepped the sausage gravy for the campout, I made a batch of Incinerator Hot Sauce, a co-pack sauce made with 7 Pots, trinidad scorpions, and capsaicin. I washed everything as usual with hot soapy water, rinse, sanitize. The next day as I was stirring up the cream gravy (made with sausage grease and butter....[sub]oh yea![/sub]...) I kept getting whiffs of Incinerator. I though maybe it was a drop that was on the stove and the burner was cooking it off or something. Later, when packing up the gravy for travel, I took a little taste. Uh OH! It WASN'T my imagination! The sausage gravy does have a taste of Incinerator! I think the cap oils from the Incinerator were in the rubber scraper and didn't come out with regular washing.

Now I'm worried, as I did not want the gravy to have ANY heat! This is for everyone including non-chileheads and kids. Fortunately, everyone there, including the professed non-chileheads and kids were enough of chileheads that the little bit of heat was not an issue and it looked like everyone enjoyed the sausage gravy. For the rest of the chileheads, they never knew anything was wrong. I wonder why.....

That Incinerator Gravy was the shiznit SL!!!!!!

But how on earth are ya gonna duplicate it???????

(cue for SL to tell her story on how it got created!)

 I was working on the story CJ~~~~

and Yea....blowing $#!t up........

At the initial discovery of having forgotten the pizza dough, I was pretty bummed.

But I hafta say....HH made it the most fun TD event EVER!!!!!!!

The camaraderie of everyone there, the crazy-inventive techniques he used, the flavors he infused, married, and coaxed....
...seriously - Fatalii/Feta Stuffed Crust!!!!!!!! Exquisite!!!!!!!
Well, it turned into a total TD experience! And waaaaaay too fun!

So much so that I'm pretty sure he convinced a few other members to give a future TD a whirl!

In the end, I ended up grateful the dough was left in the freezer. (and i may never use my bread machine again - he inspired me with his campsite dough mixing wizardry just that much!)

Thanks HH!!!!!!!!!

So, HH81's TD entry truly was a NW event-

he used-
a pot from Jerret and Missy for the dough
wood from PaulG for the fire
a square fry pan to saute and make the sauce from me
the round alumineeum pan from SD/CJ
Chiles from Justaguy and SilverSurfer
slate stone from CJ (sorry Scovie, all the credit for that goes to CJ!!!!)

and prolly a few more random associations i can't remember right now!

YES! THAT'S what I'm lookin' for!

Definitely need to re-format if there's another challenge. I knew you guys should be reacting like that, but it just went too fast. You guys are tough, and HH81, we've seen you laid out on the floor from a single pod, so you did GREAT!

PaulG only wanted to try 3 drops, but he eats superhots x2 per meal, so when he kept in on the challenge, I wasn't surprised. All you guys are experienced in the superhot league, so I am thrilled at how it all went down.

well, I don't know about getting unpacked, but I have a sink-full of pots and pans that need to be washed in the morning before I make tomorrow's batch of salsa....

does that count?
