Sandwich of the Month

Hey y'all. A recent discussion with THP about Cuban sandwich's in another thread has inspired me to begin this thread.

What is a sandwich? According to wiki...

I myself shall endeavor to post a Sandwich of the Month for every month. This month I tip my hat to one of my favorite sandwiches, The Cuban.

While I encourage y'all to post up your Cuban for SOTM, for the sake of popularizing the thread, feel free to post your sandwich. Be it BLT, turkey sub, gyro, po'boy, etc.

Some rules.

1 ~ Meet the criteria as linked above according to wiki.

2 ~ True, burgers are sandwiches but as we have other threads devoted to them, we will not include them here in this thread. No burgers.

3 ~ List ingredients and methods of how the sandwich was put together.

4 ~ No matter if it is a classic reuben or tuna salad, include a heat ingredient.

5 ~ Pics are mandatory. Talk is cheap. Show us the money!

6 ~ No tortillas. We have taco threads already, and that also means no stinkin' "wraps".

7 ~ Have fun.

Roast Pork Melt

This is made with boneless pork ribs that I marinated in a mix of vinegary hot sauces, then rubbed with my bbq rib rub and grilled. After about twenty minutes on each side, I took them off splooged them with bbq sauce and wrapped in foil. I put them in the oven for about three hours on 300F. I then took them out and shredded them into pulled pork. I made a quick pickled red cabbage, and took a small loaf of Italian bread and cut it in half, then sliced the top and bottom off. I spread the top and bottom and began assembly. White American and cheddar cheeses, the pork with a little bbq sauce added, the pickled red cabbage, my own pickled pepper mix, and another layer of both cheeses. I put it in the cast iron and let it brown up on the bottom. I found the biggest spatula I own and flipped it. Next, I took another 14in pan and put it on top with a big ceramic bowl on top of that to weigh it down. A few more minutes and voila...

We need a better ooze factor J. But good first try. Now get to work.
 
Yeah I would have expected more myself. I think maybe a splash of water to steam it may have worked better. The thing had like 16 slices of cheese on it! I also missed taking the pic of the pickled peppers on there. Oh well, back to the drawing board. It did taste good though. I also found a way to make good pulled pork quick too.
 
it might be missing some ooze factor but I'd still eat it.

A little more sploogey with a little more time in the oven. I didn't want to burn it in the pan earlier. Now I have the best of both worlds.
