- Habanero Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts (perfect appetizer or snack)
What you'll need:
1 pound bacon
2 (8 ounce) cans water chestnuts
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3/4 cup ketchup
Toothpicks
1 Habanero pepper or whichever pepper you'd like to use depending on the heat that you'd like
Directions:
Take the toothpicks and let them soak in a cup of water for 45 min to a hour. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut the package of bacon in half (or if you're a true bacon fiend, you can leave it whole) and wrap one piece of bacon around a water chestnut and do this until you've used up all your ingredients. Place a tooth pick through the wrapped morsels and place on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 15-20 min. While that's baking, mix together the brown sugar, mayo, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and finely chopped habanero together (use as little or as much as you want for the heat). Take out the baking sheet from the oven and place all of the bacon water chestnut bites onto dry paper towel to remove some of the grease. Also clean up the baking pan or dish of grease. Place all the bites back onto the baking sheet, and pour the sauce mixture you made all over them, then pop the baking sheet back into the oven for 30-40. Take out, let cool, enjoy! :)
