I had great luck with Jims seeds last growing season so I ordered again this month. Picked up several new varieties and finally opted for some superhots this time. Hopefully this summer will be warmer and provide a better growing season. One seed pack was missing, but Jim was very quick to ship...

    First Year Noob

I realized I havent posted an update due to planning to moving. The peppers were moved a lot to accommodate showing our house to sale. We didnt want any suspicious looking plants under grow lights. LoL Their temporary home was really hot and they kept drying out, but every single one survived...

Thanks for the pointer. I've come across that before, but somehow failed to implement it. I moved the lights down to about 8" or 9" above the peppers. Doing this has the peppers on the outside of the mat a little less bright, but they still seem to be receiving plenty of light. I'll rotate them...

    First Year Noob

I finally grew tired of buying nursery starts of boring 'ol mild chile's and Jalapeño plants as well as wasting money on mediocre habanero pods from grocery stores. And since I've been gardening most of my life, I figured it was time to try my hand at a pepper garden from seed. Thankfully I...

I ordered a small batch from Jim on a late Friday night and was pleased that he accepted Apple Pay. I received shipping notification the next morning. Less than a week later I had the seeds in my hand, even with a USPS delay of a couple days. I only ordered 5 varieties and Jim threw in 3...

    Lovely Yellow Pepper

I found my answer looking through this link and its sub-links as it confirms there really is a plant of this name and not just some guesstimate made by the small farm I buy from:   http://thehotpepper.com/topic/68269-bonnie-golden-ghost/ ----...

    First Time Processing Peppers

That thing is awesome. It goes to show how superior so many items were built decades ago compared to products now. I was sadly disappointed to look on Amazon and see most Nesco dehydrators still look similar to my old model. I guess it's nice that my trays will adapt to newer models if I was...

    First Time Processing Peppers

Maybe that was my problem. I put the dehydrator on the regular veggie/pepper setting of ~135F. It has a pretty strong exhaust fan as well. Teach me to use ancient mid-90's equipment. But if it ain't broken......   Live and learn. I'll get it right the more I try my hand at it.

    First Time Processing Peppers

Side note, I'm glad I chose to dry my peppers in the garage. I went out a few hours after starting and the instant I entered the garage my eyes started burning. So if you haven't tried drying peppers before, avoid doing so in the house. Secondly, wear a mask when taking the top off the blender...

    First Time Processing Peppers

Having a late harvest of chilies at my disposal this year prompted me to start being creative as to not waste any peppers. Before resorting to freezing, I thought I'd first try out making a basic powder. I dried a few trays of habs and bhuts, and then ground them in the Vitamix (which does a...

    Lovely Yellow Pepper

So I visit a friend today and theyve got a couple plants identical to my Lemon Laxative with nursery labels stating Golden Ghost mixed in with their bhuts and orange habs. Same fruit pods as well. I popped a hab in my mouth, which was rightfully hot, but it wasnt nearly as hot as my sunshine...

    Lovely Yellow Pepper

The farm link you sent is about 40 miles from the farm where I got my plant. Both are stated organic as well. Seed sharing, maybe? Ill accept that naming a possible cross strain chinense is a burdening challenge and accept that I bought a wonderful hot pepper, which Im transplanting next week...

    Lovely Yellow Pepper

Id still love some more opinions. I ate some raw, spicy Serranos with lunch today, which are a nice and casual snacking pepper, but I came home and tried these golden buggers again and lit my mouth on serious fire. I cant do them raw without a mandarin chaser or I tear up with tingly lips.

    Lovely Yellow Pepper

Back in early summer I went to my favorite organic farm to buy my regular assortment of veggie starts. As far as peppers go, year after year they typically have jalapeno, serrano, cayenne, and on rare occasion some basic variety of habanero. This year I was surprised to see a flat full of ghost...

    Hello from the Pac NW

Greetings Everyone,   Recent lurker and new member trying to get a grasp on all things spicy. My interest right now is to succeed at growing peppers indoors during the cold and wet months in the Oregon Willamette Valley. I've already learned quite a bit reading your posts over the past week...
