nutrients BLS, nute deficiency or simply over watered???

Thanks for posting this question with photos. Lately my Reapers have developed the same problem. Quite a while ago I stopped adding nutes to the water, and moved to strictly water only. I assumed it was a bug problem, so I have been hosing all the kids down with Neem, which hasn't done a thing...

Did I make a detrimental mistake?

Like you, I've been battling aphids all winter long. I have been using Bonide, which without a doubt kills the aphids. However, they keep popping up. So, it must be my lack of complete coverage on both top and bottom of each leaf.   Today I decided to try a new strategy. Neem is the product of...

seeds Newbie...What's going on with my seedlings?

I took the kids out to play for the first time this year. After I got everyone outside, I set them up in a row, just at the edge of the sunlight. I broke the rules by letting them stay outside all day. It wasn't much hotter than what it is inside the nursery, so I figured it would be okay. After...

*Deleted* answer covered in post above. Sorry.

I did a web search, and it really looks like these are spider mites. Good call everyone! It also looks like rubbing alcohol or neem oil will kill them. It's also suggested in multiple places to use water to spray down the leaves. I also looked up scale, but the photos I saw look more Chiton's in...

I"m positive that they are not dead aphids. They are attached to the leaves, but can be rubbed off easily. However, they really don't rub off intact. Rather, they get smashed, like an egg pouch or something. As I said, when they are smashed, they leave a rust colored residue on your fingers.   I...

Here's a little better look at the critters I have on the bottom of my leaves. Even when looking through a loop, I can't tell that they have legs. They almost look like eggs? I've also noticed that there are cobwebs on the affected plants. I can smash them, and they leave behind a tanish/clay...

Well, maybe I'll head to a farmer feed mill tomorrow and see what they've got. Anything has got to be better than the big-box stores....right?

Wow! Thanks for the great response! I'll see if I can find some lime sulfur locally. One of the plants might not be salvageable, and I don't see anything that appears to be new growth on it.   On the upside, it was a monumental day here in the nursery. I picked my very first pepper grown indoors...

Thanks for the reply Tarzan. I looked up mites, and they appear to be another one of those critters that are hard to dispose of. From what I've read, the current pesticide I'm using is as effective as anything else, but I need to use it more frequently than I have been.

seeds Newbie...What's going on with my seedlings?

Three days after re-potting one of the adult plants, and this is what it looks like. On one hand, I think I should continue to take a watchful-waiting approach. But on the other, I feel I should just bin the plant to make room for the healthy seedlings. I don't know if the adult plants will do...

Thanks Svt. I reset the light timers so they are turned on for 16 hours per day. I'll do a forum search for nutrient lockout.     I decided to go ahead and change the soil for one of the three adult plants. The soil in the bottom of the plant was pretty wet, but from about the mid-point up it...

seeds Newbie...What's going on with my seedlings?

Just another update with a bunch of photos.     I keep thinking about what could be causing the problems with the adult plants. I've been watering them less, checking moisture more frequently, and not using nutrients. The aphids have been kept to a minimum.    I know it's probably not terribly...

Wow, I just looked at the photos of your ill plants! How are they now, and did you ever determine what the issue was?   Actually, despite the poor appearance of the adult plants, I noticed a pepper growing on one of them. Crazy, and I can't believe it. I looked back at the General Hydro...
