The thing about inBev is that it's not American either, for better or worse. Not sure how I feel about the amount that's spent on alcohol going to a foreign company in general - but that's the fault of those light American lager companies making such tasteless swill, I guess ...

I can recognize a success story. That's all.

I'm cool with the build-it/sell-it ... very common in software.

But, I think the board oversight that comes with it hinders agility, and would go so far as to say that I think we won't see another BCS-type product from Goose Island now ...

Dude can now live well and open his own craft line and do what he does best, and plus he still has 50% of Lagunitas, and 3 seats on board, Heineken, 3. Business is business. Doesn't mean I want to drink it but never liked it anyway.

I have watched this type of shit in the wine industry for a couple decades. 9 times out of 10 it turns out bad for the consumer. Yay, they got a summer home in the hamptons. While a craft they spent a lifetime to build turns to mass produced garbage.

I hear you hogleg but I have better things to do than take beer personally. I don't get attached to brewers like you, I like when my joint switches out the taps, and just enjoy craft ale in general. The industry is HOT right now, you have to expect this.

Yeah. If Lagunitas was your favorite craft brewer, it's probably not a good day. If you like craft beer in general and would like to be in the business (to build & sell, especially)someday, it was a good day. It's all POV, like always ...

It's going to be a sad day when Cigar City and/or Oskar Blues sell-out. Both have left the money on the table ... so far, anyways!

Gott Dammit!!! the more I think about it. Homie rented the whole brewery for my 36th birthday party. It was a awesome time. We were behind the bar serving to the employee's and brewmaster. :(

Goose Island sold out a long long time ago. 312 used to only be the wheat ale, now they have a whole 312 line... good news about Goose Island though, their quality hasn't suffered and even though they aren't considered craft beer anymore, they still are putting out small batch stuff and decent seasonals.

They had a stand up at the Polish fest this weekend. I had their octoberfest this and their tripel and they were both really good. ($6 for a 12 oz pour of 9% tripel at a festival!)

I'm pretty sure anything in a 6 pack from Goose Island is InBev and everything in 4 packs is from the origianl brewer. He sold off the major market beers to concentrate on the hard to do stuff he liked best. Don't begrudge him, but won't ever buy a GI sixer again. 312 used to be a favorite, now its made with rice...
