But wow, the liberal party just took Canada ... I think it had been like a decade w/ Harper et al ...

First time I've ever seen a single party win every single seat in the Atlantic provinces - Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI & Newfoundland (and Labrador). In my opinion it's certainly a good thing, even though I don't agree with some of the Liberal thoughts. Here in my riding in Nova Scotia it seemed like we'd never see anyone -but- Conservative ruling over our area and tonight that finally changed. It feels good because it means people woke up, at least for this election,...

I was not expecting that, but it's great - a pleasant surprise.

Well I'm very happy for ya guys if only we could elect someone that would invoke change instead of political devicivness as we have in america I'm hoping bernie sanders wins here as we've tried rebublicans we've failed with Democrats now for another option this bought out 2 party system needs to go

The Conservatives, much like your Republicans, certainly banked on negativity and based their platform on personal attacks and dismissive behavior. They thought they could couple that with fear tactics and telling the people to "settle" for them because they couldn't do better. They constantly tried to tell the people not to take the risk of someone new because the next leader wouldn't have experience as Prime Minister - but that's a failing logic, after no leader is exper...

.. after all, no leader is experienced with that top role until they been had time to hold it. They banked on essentially calling the people themselves stupid and lazy and it seems like their goal was to push the people to their limits to see just how much negativity they would put up with before they would stand their ground.

Wow, and here I thought that BS didn't happen up there! I hope we have the same result in our election, coming up.

It didn't seem to until the past couple of elections or so - effectively since this new incarnation of the Conservative party came around. Once they merged with the Canadian Alliance (formerly "Reform Party Canada") they dropped the "Progressive" from their name and in so many of the comments online during this election their supporters seemed to take offense to the very word, which is just ridiculous. Who doesn't want to move forward in life - be progressive?

I didn't realize the parallels were so plain, really. And to answer your ? - "conservative folks," almost by definition!

Wow that's crazy how crap like this happens everywhere getting poor underserved people to vote against their best interests boggles my mind coming from "the best country in the world" tho we fall behind in many world milestones such as infant mortality but heh when in Rome go "Merica"

Well, the fact that our now-outed government (Conservatives) donated $8 million dollars to a US Republican organization that has many current Republican politicians on it's board speaks volumes about where their loyalties lie - http://www.canadianprogressiveworld.com/2015/10/09/canada-gave-u-s-republicans-8-million-to-strengthen-democracy-in-ukraine/ .. But only time will tell how this newly-elected government will do and whether they'll hold to their word and return the country...

.. to it's positive, accepting and welcoming stance and it's open-mindedness towards science, education, etc. The now-exiting party even went so far as to rename the official title of the federal government from "Canadian Goverment" to "Harper Government" - talk about selfish ego. And in the head office they even replaced all the photos on the walls of past Prime Ministers with only portraits of Harper.

Well I hope the best for you guys I can't even get into Canada for something I didnnot do 22 years ago I'd sure love to visit tho maybe I'll file for a waiver again its bee 16 Yeats since my last application I'd love to see how things run up seems so foreign to me only being 92 miles north but ask a Mexican right and just kidding about the quasi American anti immigrant sentiment that I expressed

To not be allowed in Canada seems to imply a mighty shady past, but that's alright - we're all pepper fans here. The only folks I ever hear of being rejected are scumbag celebrities - the type that torture animals or abuse women, etc. lol
