Charity is for the truly indigent, imho. If the recipient has a car and a house etc., I want to get something for my donation. (However overpriced it may be. )Bottom line: Charity is pretty much a one-way street. A fundraiser is a community in action.
My thoughts exactly. I'm not a fan of dropping a bucket on the ground and asking people to drop money in it. I sent him a text this morning.... I've made almost $50 in the last two days selling beef jerky at work. I doubled the money I spent on the meat and marinade, and I was even low-balling the price. And I have more orders coming in.
Nah, it's not about the girl. She's going either way. Mom and dad are hoping to raise money so they can go too. I'm trying to help them. I just know my buddy... he's so worried that he just doesn't have the money that he hasn't even begun to think of the possibilities for raising the cash other than asking for it. He's my friend. Best one I have on this planet. He's made me a better person, and I feel obligated to show him that he isn't as stuck as he think...
