    Spot the anomaly

I got a bit of a surprise when I inspected one of my (actually, seed was from Grant at Jungle Rain) Primo plants today. See if you can see what I am referring to... This MAY be a reason... As you can see, it is growing right next to a Yellow 7 Pot (Y7P on the left, Primo on the right). So...

    very sick Scorpions

We have headed into winter here. However I am not so sure that is the reason for the problems you can see below. I have two Trinidad scorpion plants. They are separated from each other but display the same symptoms. Very small crumpled leaves...

...apart from Chilli Mud Crab - I don't do seafood. But keen to hear about places that serve it up really hot.

Grubs growing inside of pods - how to prevent them

I have been pretty lucky this season when it comes to insects and pests - until recently. I have just had another round of fresh pods start to ripen - but about 80% of them have grubs growing inside of them and eating their way out. It looks as tho the eggs must have been laid early in the...

    Unripe pods dropping

Hi. I was wondering if there is a common reason for unripe pods to drop prematurely? Some of my Habs have started to drop green pods for some reason. It is late in the season now and this is the first time they have done this. Up to now, pod drop has been rare and production has been good.

GL3 - Trinidad Scorpion Morouga Red and Yellow in W. Australia

Planted 18 of each today in Jiffy pellets - 1 per pellet. Soaked seeds in warm water first for 5-10mins (while Jiffy's hydrated). About 4 of the Yellow seeds sunk - the rest floated (for what it's worth). Seeds provided by Jungle Rain (thanks Grant for the freebies as well). Going to leave...

    GL2 - TSBT & Y7P in Jiffy's in W.Australia

This is Grow Log #2. This time I thought I would try the Jiffy's as a seed growing medium. I bought 20 x TSBT and 20 x Y7P from the hippy seed co (always good service - like all the seed people I have dealt with). Step 1 - go and buy Jiffy's. This is where I made my first blue. See if you can...

misc Understanding good manufacturing practices for sauces and dressings

I was reading through a few posts on safe food manufacturing practices on the forum. In the course of doing that and googling I found this article from the University of Nebraska. I thought I would share it under it's own thread. Enjoy. "Understanding good manufacturing practices for sauces...

shade Bhuts, hot weather and shadecloth

As mentioned in another thread, I have been growing Bhuts, along with Habaneros and some other younger plants. The Bhuts and Habs are of production age. The Habs have been going along nicely with good yields. The Bhuts on the other hand, appear to struggle with the heat - and maybe wont really...

Trinidad Scorpion & Yellow 7 in Perth WA

Combining these two for my first grow log for one reason...I mixed the seeds up...just so there was an element of "I wonder what I will get" (You gotta create your own excitement sometimes). Anyway... Germinated these in the seedling tray shown below outside under the full shade of a carport. I...

    No flowers - with pic

Can anyone spot the flower. OK. There it is at the front near the bottom. There might be one or two more in there but there aint many. Certainly not compared to the Habaneros. Over the past four weeks, from 11 Habanero plants, I have been getting between 1 - 5kg of Habaneros per week. The Bhuts...

    plant size, flowering and pruning

Hi there. I am a newbie located in Perth, Western Australia. I planted my first lot of Bhut Jolokia seeds in Oct/Nov 2010. Those plants matured to production status by the end of that summer (March11) and produced a small number of chillies. I put them in a hothouse over winter and did not...
