    Eating Superhots!

This is pretty much where I'm at as well, among 'normies' i have an incredible tolerance for heat if you pit me against a true pepperhead I'd probably look weak. Anyway I grew way too many scorpians one year, made powder from them and pretty much sprinkled ground up scorpians on everything...

    container Separating Established Habanero Plants

I agree separating them at this point would definitely set back your pod production, and it's probably not worth it. But if you absolutely had to I would gently remove/shake off any excess soil and then submerge the two root systems in water. It might take some effort but I've found that root...

    Nitrogen addiction?

You know I have also heard similar claims from multiple sources, but at the same time I've never heard of any real evidence to back up these claims.   It wouldn't be too hard to verify if these claims are correct or not, getting some ph strips to test soil treated with in-organic nutrients vs...

    Strawberries

I've grown strawberries from seeds before, they are definitely slow growers to start, they usually take about 2-3 months before they get to a size decent enough to plant out. Also plan to grow them for about a year or two before you get much in the way of fruit.   Personally I like to grow...

Who has grown long term pepper plants from cuttings?

I've grown many a fig from cuttings, to be honest I usually don't hear too much about figs with grafted root stocks unless it's from a hobbyist looking to experiment.   Although peppers on the other hand I haven't had much luck growing them from cuttings.

Does anyone eat the leaves of their chilli plants?

Can confirm, my cat goes bonkers trying to steal bites from my pepper plants when I'm not looking. So far the only variety she's left alone has been my Rocoto.

    Topping eggplant?

I'm not nearly as experienced growing eggplant as I am peppers, but I've got a few growing this year and one is starting to get a little big for my grow tent and it got me thinking, has anyone tried topping an eggplant like a lot of us do with our peppers?   The growth pattern is very similar to...

    My mini grow room

Last season I put the majority of my peppers in a raised bed, and a handful I left in pots mostly because I ran out of room in my beds. I figured my peppers in the beds would be more vigorous but much to my surprise the peppers in pots did a little bit better than their bedded counterparts. I...

What is the best tasting Aji Pepper?

This season I'm going to be growing a fair amount more Baccatums so my opinion might change in a few months, but so far my fav has been the Aji Fantasy.

annuum Are there wild annuums/ chiltepins naturalizing on eastern seaboard and/or New England?

Looks like there are species present and native for my location (downstate NY), now I'm really curious to try and hunt down some native/naturalized pepper species. I wish I had a little more info as to what is growing in my region and where they tend to grow naturally.

ATTN: Walmart Shoppers, Pro-Mix is on aisle 9

That's a great price too, I'll have to look but for some odd reason promix is so hard to find in my neck of the woods.

I was absolutely blown away when I tasted my first Aji Fantasy. Aji Mango is another solid tasting pepper.

    indoor Why Tents???

Living in NYC I have incredibly limited indoor space. The benefits of a tent is that I can use bright as hell LEDs, zip the damned thing up and still use that room for other things. If I had to keep my lights out in the open it would be really awkward to just hang out in a room with my...

    How do peppers exist?

I'd imagine chinense peppers would be particularly useless in nature, for the first three months or so they just sit there barely growing. Meanwhile an entire forest of weeds would have grown up around them before they are ready to put on a single flower. Really makes me wonder what kinds of...

    How do peppers exist?

Agreed, this is an interesting topic to ponder, I'd be really interested to see what other people's thoughts on the matter is.   Now I've never grown wild peppers but my educated guess is the following: Wild pepper varieties have evolved to grow in very specific regions and/or conditions, where...

    Too late to top?

I usually top for fruit production, but I do like the look of a shorter bushier plant.

breeding Who is crossbreeding chillies this year? (Not commercially)

That's a great way of putting it, I've got a few open pollinated seeds I've started this season. I'm kinda hoping a few will be hybrids just for the fun of it.   I love the taste of Jimmy Nardello's, maybe if I'm up for it I'll try intentionally crossing them with something this year perhaps...

    Too late to top?

How late in the season will you all top your peppers until? I've got two shishito peppers which I got a late start on this year and are finally up to topping height. All of my other peppers have been topped a 1+ months ago and are large, bushy and ready to be set out in another week or two.   If...
