2018 - What did I get myself into?

Thanks Walchit!  It has been a fun project for the spring, and as things get a little closer to summer I am feeling even better about it :)   Time for another round of updates:   5/8/18 - All of the peppers that are in 4"x4" rockwool cubes have been going outside for the past week or so...

Good Afternoon from State College, PA!

Thanks! I started hardening off a couple of days ago. I think most of the operation is going to move outdoors to take advantage of the sun while we have it, but I'm hoping the hydro approach makes it plausible to bring them back inside for the fall and keep it going! How goes your...

2018 - What did I get myself into?

Another week, another set of updates!   4/30/18 - Favorite Fatalii   4/30/18 - This Bhut Jolokia keeps dropping leaves, but sprouting new growth where it happens...I guess I'm okay with that!   4/30/18 - Tray of late bloomers, looking for new homes.  Fortunately, I have some volunteers lined...

    Bhuter's 2018 Glog

You guys seem super confident that spring has finally shown up!  I was pondering starting the process too this week, but the lows yesterday (it was about 30 degrees here) kinda scared me a little.   How many days do you spend hardening them?

Recommendations for peppers plants in DWC. Seem like they are slowly dying

Hey boss, First, I typed chinenese and the autocorrect caught me...sorry about that. I'm not really suggesting anything (I am brand new to this whole thing, and feel like I am not in a position to make any real recommendations), just that I have had the same experience, but it seems to be...

Recommendations for peppers plants in DWC. Seem like they are slowly dying

I have had some similar issues with lower leaves spotting and dying (mostly on the chinese varieties) but each time this happens, new growth starts at that node. My plants aren't getting a lot taller, but they are getting bushier. Mine that are experiencing this are mostly in 4" rock wool...

2018 - What did I get myself into?

Hi all, Thanks for the comments, I am pretty hopeful that things will continue on a good path. I am getting some leaf drop at the lower levels, but they seem to be being replaced with new branches coming off of the main stem, so I guess it's all good! The Fatalii is an amazing pepper! I had...

2018 - What did I get myself into?

Hi All,   After a couple of years of growing peppers in containers on my porch with both low yields and not enough variety, I decided to dive a little deeper into peppery madness!     When I started thinking about this, I was pondering 9 plants in 1 3'x3' grow tent.  Then I started...

First time growing peppers from seed

I'm a little further north, but embarking on my first voyage from seed as well. I used a 72 cell tray with a heat mat and a humidity dome, and it took a few weeks for a few varieties to pop. Have faith! Good luck with your grow!

Good Afternoon from State College, PA!

Hi All, I am new to the forum, but have been lurking for a couple of months. I have attempted to grow hot peppers for the past couple of seasons with medium success in containers on my back porch. This year I have elected to use science and started my own plants from seed, and will be going...
